Characteristics Measurements of HTS Tape with Parallel HTS Tapes
IEEE Transactions on Applied Superconductivity, 2006Many high temperature superconducting (HTS) tape manufactures make an effort to reduce the transport current loss of HTS tapes. The knowledge of critical current and self-field in an HTS tape is very useful to compute the transport current losses. The spatial distribution and magnitude of self-field are variable due to the neighboring materials.

A Superconducting Cable With Curved HTS Tapes
IEEE Transactions on Applied Superconductivity, 2021Critical current density is an important parameter reflecting power transmission capacity of HTS cable. Based on the superconducting energy pipeline, a tightly wound cable structure along arc of the pipeline is studied in this paper. Critical current density of electromagnetic thermal coupling is calculated and optimized superconducting cable structure

Over-Current Testing of HTS Tapes
IEEE Transactions on Appiled Superconductivity, 2005High-temperature superconducting (HTS) transmission cables are subjected to short-circuit fault currents 10 to 30 times the normal operating current and lasting up to 15 cycles. These over-currents will drive the HTS conductor normal and generate heat during the fault.

Critical current properties in HTS tapes
Physica C: Superconductivity, 2003Abstract The author’s recent studies on the critical current properties in Bi-2223 multifilamentary tapes as well as YBCO coated IBAD tapes have been reviewed. Extended electric field vs. current density ( E – J ) characteristics were studied over wide range of temperature, T , magnetic field, B , and angle, θ . Based on the analysis of statistic

A Superconducting Joint for 2G HTS Tapes
Technical Physics Letters, 2019An approach of the epitaxial jointing of the GdBa2Cu3O7 – δ-based tapes using the YBa2Cu3O7 – δ layer is proposed. The structural and electrical characteristics of the formed joint have been investigated. Using the scanning transmission electron microscopy, the cross section of the joined region has been studied, partial melting of the YBa2Cu3O7 – δ ...

Levitation Force of Magnetized HTS Tape Stacks
IEEE Transactions on Applied Superconductivity, 2017High-temperature superconductors (HTS) have the significant potential of magnetic-force-based applications. Nowadays, wide spread of coated conductors tapes (CC-tapes) enables the use of HTS stacks in levitation applications. For the development of CC-tapes-based bearings and transportation systems, it is important to have information on stability of ...

HTS Tapes Selection for Superconducting Current Limiters
IEEE Transactions on Applied Superconductivity, 2017The superconducting fault current limiters (SFCLs) are highly effective solutions to reduce fault current in electric power system. The process of quenching may occur in all superconducting devices, but in fault current limiters this process must be fully controlled.

Design of HTS Tape Characteristics Measurement System
IEEE Transactions on Appiled Superconductivity, 2004High temperature superconductor (HTS) tapes are now commercially available for practical applications to apply various purposes. However HTS tapes show different electrical and mechanical characteristics, according to the manufacturers who are trying to apply various fabrication processes and treatments. From the viewpoint of an application, it is very

Investigation of HTS Tape Stacks for Levitation Applications
IEEE Transactions on Applied Superconductivity, 2016Currently, high-temperature superconductor (HTS) bearings are most commonly designed with bulk REBa 2 Cu 3 O 7-x (REBCO), but these HTS bulks have several drawbacks, such as brittleness and the complexity of sample preparation. An alternative for levitation systems is to use stacks of REBCO coated conductors (HTS tapes).
