Characteristics Measurements of HTS Tape with Parallel HTS Tapes

IEEE Transactions on Applied Superconductivity, 2006
Many high temperature superconducting (HTS) tape manufactures make an effort to reduce the transport current loss of HTS tapes. The knowledge of critical current and self-field in an HTS tape is very useful to compute the transport current losses. The spatial distribution and magnitude of self-field are variable due to the neighboring materials.

Comparison of Magnetic Systems with HTS Bulks and HTS Tape for Non-Contact Bearings

2020 21st International Symposium on Electrical Apparatus & Technologies (SIELA), 2020
This study is aimed at the applying of 2G HTS tapes in the magnetic system of non-contact bearing. The levitation properties of HTS bulk and HTS tape are measured experimentally. The properties were used for modelling magnetic system with different HTS elements.

Characteristics of an HTS Magnet Wound With 12-mm Zr-Doped HTS Tape

IEEE Transactions on Applied Superconductivity, 2014
This paper examined the properties of an high-temperature superconducting (HTS) magnet, such as the Ic-B relation and critical current, with pancake windings of a 12-mm-wide Zr-doped HTS tape. Considering the width of the Zr-doped HTS tape was 12 mm, which was three times wider than that of a conventional 4 mm tape, the current distribution at the ...

Critical Current of the HTS Winding Wound With 12 mm YBCO HTS Tape

IEEE Transactions on Applied Superconductivity, 2013
Wide 12-mm high-temperature superconducting (HTS) tapes are being used for HTS windings. The critical current of an HTS winding with a 12-mm HTS tape is calculated in this paper, with consideration of the nonuniform current distribution at the cross-section of the HTS tape.

A Superconducting Cable With Curved HTS Tapes

IEEE Transactions on Applied Superconductivity, 2021
Critical current density is an important parameter reflecting power transmission capacity of HTS cable. Based on the superconducting energy pipeline, a tightly wound cable structure along arc of the pipeline is studied in this paper. Critical current density of electromagnetic thermal coupling is calculated and optimized superconducting cable structure

Homogeneous Current Distribution in Multi-laminated HTS Tape Conductor for Pancake Coil of SMES

open access: yesPhysics Procedia, 2012
A multi-laminated HTS tape conductor has been recently developed to fabricate large pancake coils such as SMES. If the HTS tapes are simply laminated to form the conductor, the current distribution in the laminated tape conductor of the coil is ...

Structural modeling of HTS tapes and cables

Cryogenics, 2016
Abstract Structural finite element analysis (FEA) has been used as an insightful tool to investigate the electromechanical behavior of HTS REBCO tapes and twisted stacked-tape cables under tension, torsion, bending and combined loads. A novel technique was developed for modeling the layered composite structure of the 2G tapes with structural solid ...

Finite-element recipes for HTS-coated conductors and HTS tape topologies

Superconductor Science and Technology, 2023
Abstract Different electromagnetic formulations were proposed and implemented in finite element (FE) software to model high-temperature superconductors-coated conductors (HTS-CCs) and HTS tape topologies. However, their modelling can be notably demanding in computational resources, particularly computation time.
