Solenoid from Experimental HTS tape for Magnetic Refrigeration

open access: yesJournal of Engineering Science and Technology Review, 2019
The project of superconducting magnetic system (SMS) for the magnetic refrigerator machine is proposed. The second-generation high-temperature superconducting tapes for SMS are developed, fabricated and tested in NRC Kurchatov Institute. The magnet consists of 12 non-insulated double pancake coils.

Beyond Activity: The Unified Framework of the Sabatier Principle to Guide Rational Design of Durable and Active Electrocatalysts

open access: yesCarbon Energy, EarlyView.
In this review, a unified framework of the Sabatier principle is applied to a diverse range of catalytic and electrocatalytic systems for advanced clean energy technologies, with a particular focus on the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). This approach will guide the design and development of highly active and stable catalysts for fuel cells ...

An Overview of High‐Temperature Superconducting Cables in DC Systems: Unlocking Potential for High‐Voltage DC Networks

open access: yesHigh Voltage, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper provides an overview of high‐temperature superconducting (HTS) cables in DC systems, with a focus on their deployment in high‐voltage DC (HVDC) networks. The assessment of HTS cable properties—such as extremely low electrical resistance, high current‐carrying capacity and a compact geometry—and their comparison with those of ...

The power of many: when genetics met yeasts and high‐throughput

open access: yesBiological Reviews, Volume 101, Issue 4, Page 1662-1682, August 2026.
ABSTRACT In recent years, complex technological capabilities have evolved, driven by the need to solve complex and integrative biological questions through global analyses. New equipment allows the scaling up and automation of processes which previously were carried out on a very limited scale.

Magnetization losses in magnets wound from anisotropic HTS tape conductors

open access: yes, 2000
In this paper, magnetization losses in high-Tc material (HTS) magnets are studied computationally by using a semi-analytical model. We show how conductor geometry, magnetic field dependence of critical current density, operation temperature and coil ...

Batteries From Reused, Recycled, and Surplus Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Sustainable Systems, Volume 10, Issue 7, July 2026.
Batteries can become more circular by combining reuse, direct recycling, metallurgical recovery, and material sourcing from industrial surplus streams. This Review highlights how recycled and waste‐derived metals, carbons, polymers, electrolytes, and active materials can be reintegrated into current and emerging batteries, while emphasizing design ...
