Disordered but rhythmic—the role of intrinsic protein disorder in eukaryotic circadian timing

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Unstructured domains known as intrinsically disordered regions (IDRs) are present in nearly every part of the eukaryotic core circadian oscillator. IDRs enable many diverse inter‐ and intramolecular interactions that support clock function. IDR conformations are highly tunable by post‐translational modifications and environmental conditions, which ...

Eastern European gas hub in European gas hubs system

open access: yesČasopis Socìalʹno-Ekonomìčnoï Geografìï. Часопис соціально-економічної географії, 2018
There are the questions considered in the article which have prospect of creation on the basis of the Ukrainian underground gas storages of the powerful East European gas regulator (hub) that will be capable to increase the level of energy security of ...

Green hub location problem

open access: yesTransportation Research Part E: Logistics and Transportation Review, 2019
Abstract This paper introduces the green hub location problem that finds the best locations for hubs, assignments of demand nodes to these hubs and speed of trucks/flights so as to route the demand between any origin-destination pairs. The aim of the service provider is to minimize the total amount of emissions that depends on vehicle speed and ...

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Robust Hub Location Problem With Flow-Based Set-Up Cost

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Hub location problems are network design problems on the level of strategic decision-making processes. During strategic planning, input data, such as flows and set-up costs, are not always known in advance.

Conserved structural motifs in PAS, LOV, and CRY proteins regulate circadian rhythms and are therapeutic targets

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cryptochrome and PAS/LOV proteins play intricate roles in circadian clocks where they act as both sensors and mediators of protein–protein interactions. Their ubiquitous presence in signaling networks has positioned them as targets for small‐molecule therapeutics. This review provides a structural introduction to these protein families.

The neural crest‐associated gene ERRFI1 is involved in melanoma progression and resistance toward targeted therapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.

Star p-hub median problem with modular arc capacities [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Cataloged from PDF version of article. We consider the hub location problem, where p hubs are chosen from a given set of nodes, each nonhub node is connected to exactly one hub and each hub is connected to a central hub.

Cytoplasmic p21 promotes stemness of colon cancer cells via activation of the NFκB pathway

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytoplasmic p21 promotes colorectal cancer stem cell (CSC) features by destabilizing the NFκB–IκB complex, activating NFκB signaling, and upregulating BCL‐xL and COX2. In contrast to nuclear p21, cytoplasmic p21 enhances spheroid formation and stemness transcription factor CD133.

WHOOPH: whale optimization-based optimal placement of hub node within a WBAN

open access: yesScientific Reports
Biosensor nodes of a wireless body area network (WBAN) transmit physiological parameter data to a central hub node, spending a substantial portion of their energy.
