The recent developments in thermodynamic analysis of irreversibility for open systems represent an important result useful in the study of brain, both in relation to its neurobiology and to its diseases. In this paper the extrema entropy generation principle is suggested as a new powerful approach to the study of brain.

Abstract:Freedom of will does exist, it is self-leadership of man based on reason and ethos. Evidence comes from truth. Determinism cannot be proved since if you try, you mean to prove a truth; but there is no truth without freedom. By contrast for freedom there are many pieces of evidence e.g.

The human brain is not unique in terms of general structure. It exhibits a morphology typical of mammals and more specific of primates. Also, humans do not have the largest brain either in absolute or in relative terms, although they possess a brain that is seven to eight times larger than expected from general mammalian brain-body relationship.

Neuroscience has come a long way since Santiago Ramon y Cajal's drawings of brain cells in 1891, however we still use these drawings today and research still has a long way to go both in terms of theory and application. I turn to the fields of neuroinformatics and connectomics for part of the answer.

Anthropology and Humanism, 2001
This article discusses the assumption of cultural relativism that anthropologists make in ethnographic practice, from the point of view of brain science. Our current knowledge of human brain structures is briefly summarized. While neurologists tend to assume that all brains are fundamentally alike, it has also become clear that experience can modify ...
