PACAP and migraine headache: immunomodulation of neural circuits in autonomic ganglia and brain parenchyma. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The discovery that intravenous (IV) infusions of the neuropeptide PACAP-38 (pituitary adenylyl cyclase activating peptide-38) induced delayed migraine-like headaches in a large majority of migraine patients has resulted in considerable excitement in ...

Posterior atlanto-occipital and atlanto-axial area and its surgical interest

open access: yesArquivos de Neuro-Psiquiatria, 2014
Classic anatomical studies describe two membranes – atlanto-occipital and atlanto-axial in the posterior aspect of the craniocervical region. During many surgical procedures in this area, however, we have not found such membranes.

Study on Behind Helmet Blunt Trauma Caused by High-Speed Bullet

open access: yesApplied Bionics and Biomechanics, 2020
The mechanism of Behind Helmet Blunt Trauma (BHBT) caused by a high-speed bullet is difficult to understand. At present, there is still a lack of corresponding parameters and test methods to evaluate this damage effectively.

The universal existence of myodural bridge in mammals: an indication of a necessary function

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
The “myodural bridge” was described in literatures as a dense fibrous tissue connecting the sub-occipital musculature with the spinal dura mater in human studies.

Non‐Invasive Multidimensional Capacitive Sensing for In Vivo Traumatic Brain Injury Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Single‐electrode, multidimensional capacitive sensors noninvasively assess cerebral autoregulation and compliance for traumatic brain injury monitoring. ABSTRACT Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a major cause of death and disability, but invasive intracranial pressure (ICP) monitoring is risky, and current non‐invasive methods lack the resolution and ...

Ultrasound Modulation of Visual Circuits in Mice Independent of Auditory Confound

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In this study, Qiu et al. found that low‐intensity ultrasound can directly activate sparse ultrasound‐sensitive neurons (UNs) in the primary visual cortex (V1) of deafened mice. The proportion of these sparse UNs is pressure‐dependent. Furthermore, ultrasound modulates visual circuitry with distinct excitatory and inhibitory effects.
