Technical Guidance Sheet (TGS) on normal levels of contaminants in English soils : lead (Pb) : technical guidance sheet TGS02, July 2012 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Lead (Pb) is a metallic element naturally occurring in trace amounts in the Earth’s surface environment with concentrations in rocks averaging 15 mg/kg. Generally, acid igneous rocks (e.g. granites) are higher in Pb than basic ones (e.g.

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

A Muscle Model Based on Feldman's Lambda Model: 3D Finite Element Implementation

open access: yes, 2013
This paper presents the introduction of Feldman's muscle model in a three dimensional continuum finite element model of the human face. This model is compared to the classical Hill-type muscle modelComment: CMBBE'2013, Salt Lake City : United States ...

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Deixis as a Significant Element of Human Communication

open access: yesArmenian Folia Anglistika, 2009
The article attempts to reveal the semantic characteristics of deixis that determine the role of deictic words in the process of communication. Deixis is viewed as a means of linguistic nomination that points out the main elements of the communication ...

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.
