K-NCT: Korean Neural Grammatical Error Correction Gold-Standard Test Set Using Novel Error Type Classification Criteria

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2022
Recently, active research has been conducted on Korean grammatical error correction on machine translation (MT) and automatic noise generation. However, there is no gold-standard test set for objective and official comparative analysis.

Human Evaluation of English–Irish Transformer-Based NMT

open access: yesInformation, 2022
In this study, a human evaluation is carried out on how hyperparameter settings impact the quality of Transformer-based Neural Machine Translation (NMT) for the low-resourced English–Irish pair.

English-Catalan Neural Machine Translation: state-of-the-art technology, quality, and productivity

open access: yesRevista Tradumàtica, 2022
Recent major changes and technological advances have consolidated machine translation (MT) as a key player to be considered in the language services world. In numerous instances, it is even an essential player due to budget and time constraints.

Does splitting make sentence easier?

open access: yesFrontiers in Artificial Intelligence, 2023
In this study, we focus on sentence splitting, a subfield of text simplification, motivated largely by an unproven idea that if you divide a sentence in pieces, it should become easier to understand.

Evaluating and Characterizing Human Rationales [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 2020 Conference on Empirical Methods in Natural Language Processing (EMNLP), 2020
Two main approaches for evaluating the quality of machine-generated rationales are: 1) using human rationales as a gold standard; and 2) automated metrics based on how rationales affect model behavior. An open question, however, is how human rationales fare with these automatic metrics.

Motility Evaluation of Human Spermatozoa [PDF]

open access: yesOptica Acta: International Journal of Optics, 1980
In this contribution we investigate the applicability of photon correlation techniques as a clinical tool for the evaluation of motility parameters of undiluted human sperm. Measurements on semen samples, selected visually for ‘good’ motility, yielded reproducible estimates of the fraction motile spermatozoa and the mean speed of the motile cells.
