Fall Protection of Humanoids Inspired by Human Fall Motion

2018 IEEE-RAS 18th International Conference on Humanoid Robots (Humanoids), 2018
Most of the existing stability control methods for humanoids aim at avoiding falling down, and it is difficult to cope with the sudden fall of robots. However, humanoids is an unstable system which cannot avoid falling down. In this paper, we design a planning method of fall protection for humanoids according to the human fall motion.

Fall of Humans

Proceedings of the 2015 International Conference on Interactive Tabletops & Surfaces - ITS '15, 2015
This paper illustrates how transmedia storytelling can help introduce players to interactive tabletop games. To do so, we developed Fall of Humans (FoH), an experience that takes place over two games: Meat factory, a physical card game where players compete to create different zombies; and Uprising, a interactive tabletop game where players can get to ...

Human fall detection

INMIC, 2013
Fall-induced injuries are common in the elderly population. Delay or lack of medical care after the occurrence of a fall often results in injuries, sometimes severe, and can also lead to death in some cases. Falls, therefore, are critical occurrences for the elderly.

Human Body Fall Recognition System

2020
Falling is one of the major risks for elderly people, kids and people with disabilities. The situation worsens when the victim suffers from serious injuries and is unable to get help on time. In this paper, we propose a method to detect a fall in real-time.

A hybrid human fall detection scheme

2010 IEEE International Conference on Image Processing, 2010
This paper presents a novel video-based human fall detection system that can detect a human fall in real-time with a high detection rate. This fall detection system is based on an ingenious combination of skeleton feature and human shape variation, which can efficiently distinguish “fall-down” activities from “fall-like” ones.

To Fall Is Human: Falls, Gait, and Balance in Older Adults

2016
Falls are common throughout a life span; however, they become particularly dangerous as people age. Serious injuries, such as hip fractures, traumatic brain injuries, and death, frequently occur to older adults as a result of falls. As such, the importance of screening, recognizing, and managing risk factors for falls is paramount for clinicians and ...

Human Action in the Fall

2018
The Christian tradition takes moral evil with radical seriousness. The tradition is divided on how to read Genesis 3 as seen in the work of Augustine and Symeon the New Theologian. We need several angles of vision to do justice to the fall and to human sin: a theological reading of Genesis 1–11, the many concepts used to describe sin, canonical lists ...

A Falling Motion Strategy for Humanoids Based on Motion Primitives of Human Falling

2017
In this paper, a falling motion planning for humanoid robots is proposed as inspired from human falling in order to decrease the impact force significantly. Firstly, motion data of human falling are obtained from a motion track system. Then, two falling motion primitives, namely, knee bending with stretching and hip bending with stretching are ...
