Simulating the Mechanics of Human Falls

2004, Ottawa, Canada August 1 - 4, 2004, 2004
Several estimates indicate that over 10,000 people 65 and older die annually from fallrelated injuries, making falls the leading cause of injury-related death for this age group. At present, no standard test or devices exists that can be used to simulate human falls, which makes research to undertand the mechanics of falls very difficult. To address

Falling Men: Images of the Falling Human in Art and Photography

2013
Falling is a metaphor and an image for a lot of possible human disasters like the fall of the angels, Adam’s fall in sin etc. but also falling prices on the stock market. But there is a harsh contrast between the beauty of the image of a (pictorially) suspended fall and the implicit crash which is rarely been shown.

Human fall detection by using the body vector

2017 9th International Conference on Knowledge and Smart Technology (KST), 2017
Due to a problem of current research occurring when detecting a human falling in a camera direction, we propose a new method for detecting human fall detection by using body vector technique. This method consists of three steps. Two image sequence is used as the input of the system. Firstly markers are affixed on sixteen joints.

Intelligent Human Fall Detection for Home Surveillance

2014 IEEE 11th Intl Conf on Ubiquitous Intelligence and Computing and 2014 IEEE 11th Intl Conf on Autonomic and Trusted Computing and 2014 IEEE 14th Intl Conf on Scalable Computing and Communications and Its Associated Workshops, 2014
We propose in this paper an intelligent system for human fall detection in indoor environments. It can serve as home surveillance for elderly person. Specifically, we detect the human body captured by camera using the Vibe algorithm. Then Gabor feature of a human body is extracted as observation feature.

A Novel Approach for Human Fall Detection and Fall Risk Assessment

2020
There are several studies concerned in providing quality health care services to all people. Among them, human fall detection systems play an important role, because fall is the main obstacle for elderly people to live independently and it is also a major health concern due to aging population.
