[Epidemiology of human herpes virus 8 (HHV-8) or the herpes virus associated with Kaposi's sarcoma (KSHV)].

Pathologie-biologie, 2002
Human herpesvirus 8 (HHV-8), also called Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV), is not a ubiquitous virus. In countries with a low viral seroprevalence (< 5% in adult general population) as the USA, Northern Europe and Asia, the infection concerns essentially homosexual men.

Human herpes virus type 8 seroprevalence in pregnant women in Geneva, Switzerland

The Journal of Maternal-Fetal & Neonatal Medicine, 2010
Because of increasing migration, European countries are facing new pathogens and diseases, such as human herpes virus-8 (HHV-8). We assessed the prevalence of HHV-8 using a new ELISA test in 140 pregnant women delivering in Geneva (Switzerland). The prevalence of HHV-8 was 7.9% globally and up to 33.3% in the African subpopulation.

Donor‐derived human herpes virus 8‐related Kaposi's sarcoma in renal allograft ureter

Transplant Infectious Disease, 2007
Abstract: We present a case of human herpes virus 8 (HHV8)‐associated Kaposi sarcoma (KS) occurring in a renal allograft ureter from a male donor. The female patient presented with a rising creatinine due to ureteric obstruction, and subsequent histological examination of the excised tumor revealed a KS. The tumor tested positive for HHV8 antigen and,

Epstein-Barr Virus, Varicella Zoster Virus, and Human Herpes Viruses-6 and -8

2011
Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), varicella zoster virus (VZV), and human herpes viruses-6 (HHV-6) and -8 (HHV-8) present unique management challenges to clinicians who care for patients with cancer. Although latent infection by these organisms is either common (HHV-8, VZV) or essentially ubiquitous (EBV, HHV-6), clinical manifestations vary widely in ...
