KSHV vIL6 Inhibits Functional B Cell Maturation During De Novo Infection

open access: yesJournal of Medical Virology, Volume 97, Issue 7, July 2025.
ABSTRACT Despite causative links to lymphoproliferative disorders, little is known about early events governing KSHV infection in B lymphocytes. IL‐6 signaling plays a critical role in KSHV‐mediated disease, with human IL‐6 (hIL6) levels correlating with viral load and disease progression.

Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress in Cancer

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 6, Issue 7, July 2025.
Persistent ER stress in tumors activates UPR sensors (IRE1α, PERK, ATF6), driving cancer proliferation, metastasis, immune evasion, and drug resistance. This review explores UPR‐mediated signaling crosstalk, angiogenesis, and therapeutic targeting to develop safer anticancer strategies.

Formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded (FFPE) samples help to investigate transcriptomic responses in wildlife disease

open access: yesMolecular Ecology Resources, Volume 25, Issue 5, July 2025.
Abstract Infectious diseases impact numerous organisms. Knowledge of host‐pathogen interactions and host responses to infection is crucial for conservation and management. Obtaining this knowledge quickly is made increasingly possible by a variety of genomic approaches, yet, for many species the bottleneck to understanding this, remains access to ...

SQSTM1/p62 Orchestrates Skin Aging via USP7 Degradation

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 24, Issue 7, July 2025.
p62 exhibits diminished expression in aging skin and senescent cells. p62 serves to inhibit the accumulation of USP7 during senescence induction. The Tyr‐67 residue within the PB1 domain or Gln‐418 within the UBA domain of p62 forms a hydrogen bond with Ala‐993 of the Ubl5 domain of USP7.
