Human Metapneumovirus Infection in Adults
Pediatric Infectious Disease Journal, 2008Human metapneumovirus (hMPV) was first identified in 2001 in Dutch children with bronchiolitis. The virus is an RNA virus in the Pneumovirinae subfamily and is most closely related to respiratory syncytial virus. hMPV has been shown to have worldwide circulation with nearly universal infection by age 5.

Human Metapneumovirus Infection in Thai Children
Scandinavian Journal of Infectious Diseases, 2003Human metapneumovirus (hMPV) associated with clinical respiratory tract infection (RTI) in children was first isolated in The Netherlands. Of 120 Thai paediatric patients with RTI examined, 5 cases (4.2%) showed detectable hMPV based on N-gene-specific RT-PCR. All of them were negative for hRSV infection.

Human Metapneumovirus and Human Coronavirus NL63
Pediatrics, 2008To the Editor .— We read with great interest the article by Lambert et al that studied the role of 2 new respiratory viruses (human metapneumovirus [hMPV] and human coronavirus NL63 [hCoV-NL63]) in healthy preschool-aged children using parent-collected specimens with molecular techniques.1 The study showed that these viruses circulated in Melbourne ...

Human Metapneumovirus—Is It a Cause for Concern?
Journal of The Association of Physicians of India"Infectious disease is one of the few genuine adventures left in the world…. however secure and well regulated civilized life may become, bacteria, protozoa, viruses, infected fleas, lice, ticks, mosquitoes and bedbugs will always lurk in the shadows and pounce upon us when our defenses are down."1 These words by microbiologist Hans Zinsser in 1934 ...
