Human Leucocyte Migration Inhibition

Scandinavian Journal of Immunology, 1976
Abstract. Within the last decade a variety of techniques have been developed and used for the detection of cell‐mediated immunity in man by means of leucocyte migration inhibition in vitro. A detailed description of the leucocyte migration capillary tube technique (LMCT) and the leucocyte migration agarose technique (LMAT) is given.

Human C1q Induces Eosinophil Migration

Clinical Immunology and Immunopathology, 1996
Eosinophils (Eo) play a significant role in allergic inflammation and the host's immunity to parasitic infections. Although the presence of C1q-binding cell surface molecule(s) (C1q-R) on Eo had been previously implicated by the ability of C1q to augment IgG-dependent, Eo-mediated killing of schistosomula, little is known about the structure or the ...

Laminin inhibits human keratinocyte migration

Journal of Cellular Physiology, 1988
AbstractA quantitative migration assay for human keratinocytes was developed to assess the influence of extracellular matrix molecules on cell motility independently from their effect on cell proliferation. Fibronectin and collagen types I and IV markedly promoted keratinocyte migration, but albumin, type V collagen, and heparan sulfate proteoglycan ...

Unique human migration

Trends in Neurosciences, 2001
The developing human brain might possess neuromigratory pathways that do not exist in other species. Using vital dye labeling in organotypic slices, neurobiologists from Yale University have found that neurons from the ganglionic eminence of the telencephalon migrate to the thalamus of the diencephalon in humans, but not in mice or monkeys.

Permeable Borders: Human Migration

1998
Borders are central to the theory and practice of sovereignty. They establish the categories of citizen and alien. This is seen as a fundamental element of sovereignty: ‘The power to admit or exclude aliens is inherent in sovereignty and essential for any political community.’2 This conceptual abstraction is reified by such phenomena as border patrols ...
