Human Motion Capture Driven by Orientation Measurements

Presence: Teleoperators and Virtual Environments, 1999
Motion-capture techniques are rarely based on orientation measurements for two main reasons: (1) optical motion-capture systems are designed for tracking object position rather than their orientation (which can be deduced from several trackers), (2) known animation techniques, like inverse kinematics or geometric algorithms, require position targets ...

Ongoing human action recognition with motion capture

Pattern Recognition, 2014
Ongoing human action recognition is a challenging problem that has many applications, such as video surveillance, patient monitoring, human-computer interaction, etc. This paper presents a novel framework for recognizing streamed actions using Motion Capture (MoCap) data.

Garment-based motion capture (GaMoCap): high-density capture of human shape in motion

Machine Vision and Applications, 2015
This paper presents a new motion capture (MoCap) system, the garment-based motion capture system--GaMoCap. The key feature is the use of an easily wearable garment printed with colour-coded pattern and a generic multicamera setup with standard video cameras.

Integration of Motion Capture and EMG data for Classifying the Human Motions

2007 IEEE 23rd International Conference on Data Engineering Workshop, 2007
Three dimensional motion capture facility is a powerful tool for quantitative and qualitative assessment of multi-joint external movements. Electro-myograph (EMG) signals give the physiologic information of muscles while doing motions. In this paper, our objective is to integrate these two different bio-medical data together and to extract precise and ...

Capture and synthesis of human motion in video sequences

1998 IEEE Second Workshop on Multimedia Signal Processing (Cat. No.98EX175), 2002
We present a knowledge-based framework to capture and represent human walkers in video. The system models the human body as an articulated object of twelve rigid body-parts whose motions are almost periodic and subject to dynamic constraints. The resulting representation is compact and composed of the motion, shape, and texture for each of the body ...

Real-time human motion capturing system

IEEE International Conference on Image Processing 2005, 2005
This paper presents a real time vision-based human motion capturing and recognition system using two calibrated CCD cameras. We propose a simple but effective method to estimate the motion parameters (BAPs) of the human object by analyzing the vertical projection profile and the horizontal projection profile in each view to identify different arm and ...

Controlling a marionette with human motion capture data

2003 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (Cat. No.03CH37422), 2004
In this paper, we present a method for controlling a motorized, string-driven marionette using motion capture data from human actors. The motion data must be adapted for the marionette because its kinematic and dynamic properties differ from those of the human actor in degrees of freedom, limb length, workspace, mass distribution, sensors, and ...

Markerless human motion capture and pose recognition

2009 10th Workshop on Image Analysis for Multimedia Interactive Services, 2009
In this paper, we present an approach to capture markerless human motion and recognize human poses. Different body parts such as the torso and the hands are segmented from the whole body and tracked over time. A 2D model is used for the torso detection and tracking, while a skin color model is utilized for the hands tracking.

Markless Human Motion Capture by Voxel Labeling

2009 Fifth International Conference on Image and Graphics, 2009
We address the issue of markless human motion capture by voxel labeling. We explore the problem of pose estimation from voxel cloud based on a predefined human model. First, voxels are labeled into different individual parts of the body. Then, the joints are extracted from labeled voxels. Finally, the joint angles are estimated from the joints.
