Treatment patterns and outcomes in perineal primary vulvar cancer—a population‐based Swedish cohort study

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, Volume 105, Issue 11, Page 2265-2274, November 2026.
Perineal vulvar squamous cell carcinoma was identified in 147 of 571 cases. Owing to the anatomical proximity of these tumors to the anus, treatment selection may present considerable clinical challenges. The majority of patients (53%) underwent surgical treatment alone, whereas 23% received surgery combined with adjuvant radiotherapy and 24% were ...

Silicon dioxide vaginal gel and short‐term high‐risk human papillomavirus DNA detectability: A randomized controlled trial

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, Volume 105, Issue 11, Page 2256-2264, November 2026.
In an independent randomized trial of 242 women with PCR‐confirmed hrHPV infection, 3 months of silicon dioxide‐based vaginal gel did not improve hrHPV DNA non‐detectability compared with observation alone (18% vs. 21%). Patient‐reported adverse events were more frequent with gel (32% vs. 2%), and overall patient satisfaction was lower.

Optimising Human Papillomavirus Vaccination Strategies for Faster Cervical Cancer Elimination

open access: yesActa Paediatrica, Volume 115, Issue 11, Page 2456-2459, November 2026.
ABSTRACT Aim Cervical cancer elimination is a global public health goal, with vaccination against Human Papillomavirus (HPV) and HPV screening being two major prevention pillars. This review focuses on how vaccinations can be used in order to reach the timepoint of cervical cancer elimination faster. Methods The concepts in previously published reviews

Repression of ROBO1 Enhances Cisplatin Sensitivity in Hypermethylated Subtype of HPV‐Positive Head and Neck Carcinoma

open access: yesCancer Science, Volume 117, Issue 11, Page 3171-3185, November 2026.
DNA hypermethylation causally correlates with better treatment response of HPV(+) HNSCC, and its chemosensitivity might be enhanced by silencing of methylation target genes. Silencing of ROBO1 enhances, and its overexpression reduces, CDDP chemosensitivity, and epigenetic or ROBO1‐targeted interventions may improve therapeutic outcomes in resistant HPV(
