Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

Exon 7 splicing of ERα predicts poor prognosis and increases phenotypic heterogeneity in luminal a subtype breast cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ERα splice variant ERα∆7 lacks the C‐terminus, and its expression may change phenotypes of breast cancers. Our results showed that ERα∆7 is found in the luminal A subtype, and elevated ERα∆7 levels are linked to improved cell survival with lower proliferation and migration.

Numerical investigation on the influence of groundwater flow on long-term heat extraction performance of deep borehole heat exchanger array

open access: yesGeothermal Energy
Groundwater convection is commonly observed in real-world projects, particularly in coastal and groundwater-abundant regions. To accurately evaluate the heat extraction capacity of the deep borehole heat exchanger (DBHE) considering groundwater flow, a ...

Spatiotemporal infiltration characteristics in intact loess: In situ three-dimensional seepage

open access: yesJournal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering
Water infiltration in loess is one of the most significant processes that can lead to geological disasters on the Loess Plateau in China. However, the spatiotemporal characteristics of infiltration in intact loess, particularly the heterogeneity of three-

Transportation and access to urban services in Dar es Salaam [PDF]

open access: yes
Transportation in Dar es Salaam is particularly difficult. Statistical data drawn from the 1993 Human Resources Development Survey confirm that in unplanned settlements, transportation conditions and access to urban services are less favourable than in ...

Screening and epitope characterization of Nidogen‐2‐specific nanobodies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Camel immunization and phage display were employed to generate high‐affinity VHH nanobodies against Nidogen‐2. After library construction, biopanning, ELISA screening, sequencing, and recombinant expression, selected nanobodies were purified and characterized, leading to the preliminary exploration of a nanobody‐based sandwich ELISA for specific ...
