Signs and symptoms of human T‐lymphotropic virus 1 and 2 infections in paediatric patients
Tropical Medicine & International Health, 2023AbstractObjectiveTo determine the prevalence of signs and symptoms of HTLV‐1 and 2 infection in paediatric patients.MethodsWe included cohort, case‐control and descriptive observational studies that reported the prevalence of signs and symptoms of HTLV‐1 and 2 infections in paediatric patients.

Human T cell lymphotropic virus (HTLV)-1-associated myelopathy is a chronic, disabling inflammatory disorder of the spinal cord caused by HTLV-1 infection. The diagnosis of HTLV-1-associated myelopathy (HAM) is based on clinical and laboratorial findings.

Prevalence of human T-lymphotropic virus type 1 and 2 infection in Sweden
Scandinavian Journal of Infectious Diseases, 2012Prevalence data on human T-lymphotropic virus types 1 and 2 (HTLV-1/2) in Sweden have not been updated since 1995. The seroprevalence among blood donors at that time was 0.2/10,000. A few years earlier, a high prevalence of HTLV-2 was found in intravenous drug users (IDUs) in Stockholm (3.4%).

Seroprevalence of human T‐lymphotropic virus type 1 and 2 in Korean blood donors
Journal of Medical Virology, 2008AbstractThe seroprevalence rate of human T‐lymphotropic virus (HTLV) among the Korean blood donor population was studied to determine whether screening for HTLV should be implemented. A total of 15,173 serum samples collected from June to July 2006 at five Blood Centers which are located closely to Japan geographically, where the prevalence of HTLV is ...

We report the complete nucleotide sequences of the genomes of two human T cell lymphotropic viruses type 2 (HTLV-2) isolated from a Kayapó Indian (K96 isolate) and from an inhabitant of an urban region in the south of Brazil (RP329 isolate). The general structure of the K96 and RP329 genomes did not differ from that of other HTLV-2 genomes described in

To obtain a hepatitis C virus (HCV) proliferation system, we examined the susceptibility of various cultured cell lines to HCV infection. We found that a human T-lymphotropic virus type I infected cell line MT-2 was fairly sensitive to HCV infection.

Two distinct families of human retroviruses, the human immunodeficiency viruses (HIVs) and human T-lymphotropic viruses (HTLVs), cause significant infections worldwide. The viruses have common modes of transmission, both vertically and horizontally, and share an in vivo tropism for cells of the immune system, and in particular, T lymphocytes.

[Current situation of human immunodeficiency virus type 2 and Human T lymphotropic virus in Spain].
Enfermedades infecciosas y microbiologia clinica, 2011The Spanish HIV-2 and HTLV Group was founded in 1989. Since then, a total of 144 cases of HTLV-1 and 717 cases of infection with HTLV-2 have been reported. Most patients infected with HTLV-1 are immigrants from Latin America and Sub-Saharan Africa. A total of 34 patients had developed diseases associated with HTLV-1: 21 tropical spastic paraparesis and

AbstractHuman T‐lymphotropic virus 1/2 (HTLV‐1/2), hepatitis B virus (HBV), and hepatitis D virus (HDV) share transmission routes. Argentina shows low prevalence of HTLV‐1/2, HBV, and HDV infections; however, this situation may vary according to the geographic region and group studied. The aim of this study was to estimate the prevalence of HBV and HDV
