Humanoid robot painter assisted by a human
2012 IEEE Workshop on Advanced Robotics and its Social Impacts (ARSO), 2012In this paper, we describe a NAO H25 humanoid robot painter assisted by a human. The aim of this study is to reproduce the whole painting process by a humanoid robot with a vision system and fingers. The novelty of the study lies in using a human assistant in interaction with the robot and filling regions in the picture.

Mechatronics Considerations for Assisting Humans
2008 IEEE Conference on Robotics, Automation and Mechatronics, 2008Mechatronics technologies are now steadily penetrating in our daily lives. We are surrounded by mechatronic products and interact with them in many ways. In particular, mechatronics devices may potentially improve the quality of life of elderly people and patients with impairments.

Human Centered Interfaces for Assisted Living
2011Assisted living has a particular social importance in most developed societies, due to the increased life expectancy of the general population and the ensuing ageing problems. It has also importance for the provision of improved home care in cases of disabled persons or persons suffering from certain diseases that have high social impact. This paper is

Malonate-assisted purification of human caspases
Protein Expression and Purification, 2005Caspases have in the past decade become some of the most intensely pursued targets for the design of small-molecule inhibitors. Two significant technological roadblocks to developing caspase-binding molecules are the poor solubility of a subset of the bacterially expressed proteins and the instability of the renatured proteins that results from rapid ...

Human-Assisted Computation for Auto-Grading
2018 IEEE International Conference on Data Mining Workshops (ICDMW), 2018In this paper, we present a novel auto-grading framework that can automatically grade student assignments without prior knowledge of the answers. The idea is crowd-sourcing or human-assisted computation that extract knowledge from a large number of people to make predictions using hypothesis testing and Bayesian analysis.

The scientific and technological control of human reproduction and the regulation of sex and sexuality has been a key focus of the ‘corporeal turn’ within sociology. Sociological study of human reproduction initially gained momentum in the 1970s, with the rise of women’s health movements (see Davis 2007) and the concomitant critique of patriarchal ...

Endocrine monitoring for assisted human conception
British Medical Bulletin, 1990The pregnancy potential of an assisted conception treatment cycle increases with the number of oocytes or embryos returned to the patient. It is therefore necessary for the patient to undergo a form of follicular stimulation which will result in the recruitment of a cohort of preovulatory follicles and hence supernumerary oocytes.
