The complete chloroplast genome of Humulus yunnanensis and phylogenetic analysis of the genus Humulus

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources, 2019
Humulus yunnanensis is an endemic species in Yunnan, China, which is used for beer and pharmacology industry. The phylogenetic position of this species in Humulus remains controversial. The complete chloroplast (cp) genome sequence of H.

Metabolomic and Single‐Cell Transcriptomic Analyses Shed Light on Secondary Metabolite Profiling and Potential Developmental Dynamics of Glandular Trichomes in Artemisia argyi

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, Volume 24, Issue 3, Page 1064-1081, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Plant glandular trichomes (GTs) are characterised by their ability to synthesise and store abundant secondary metabolites of significant biological importance. The medicinal plant Artemisia argyi exhibits a dense covering of GTs, yet the precise metabolic compositions and the developmental molecular dynamics of A.

Insights into glandular trichome biology from analysis of organ‐specific gene expression programmes in cannabis, hop and tomato

open access: yesThe Plant Journal, Volume 125, Issue 6, March 2026.
Significance Statement This study of three glandular trichome‐producing species (cannabis, hop and tomato) defines tissue‐specific transcriptomic atlases for five organs (trichome, flower, leaf, stem and root), providing co‐expression and gene regulatory networks and identifying candidate regulators of specialised metabolism in trichomes of each ...

Chemical Fingerprinting of Spiranthes spiralis L. Methanol Seed Extract: Spectroscopic, Chromatographic, and Computational Approaches

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 2, February 2026.
Spiranthes spiralis L. seed methanol extract was morphologically and chemically characterized using microscopy, FT‐IR, GC–MS, and in silico analyses. The extract exhibited high phenolic content and strong DPPH radical scavenging activity, while GC–MS identified 22 bioactive compounds with notable binding affinity toward the GPR52 receptor.

Sex‐specific ethylene responses drive floral sexual plasticity in Cannabis sativa

open access: yesThe Plant Journal, Volume 125, Issue 3, February 2026.
SUMMARY Cannabis sativa L. exhibits pronounced sexual plasticity in which both XX and XY plants can undergo floral phenotypic sex reversal in response to ethylene modulation, yet the underlying molecular mechanisms remain poorly defined. Here, we present the most extensive multi‐omic analysis of ethylene‐induced sex change in C.

From Brewing Waste to Skin Health: Microbiota-Modulating Potential of Humulus lupulus in Atopic Dermatitis

open access: yesCosmetics
Atopic dermatitis (AD) is associated with skin microbiota dysbiosis, particularly the overgrowth of Staphylococcus aureus (SA) and Staphylococcus epidermidis (SE), which contribute to inflammation and barrier disruption.
