Neuromodulator Dynamics Underlying Associative Learning in the Ventral Striatum's Olfactory Tubercle

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Using fiber photometry and genetically encoded sensors, the dynamic release patterns of four neuromodulators in the olfactory tubercle (OT)—a brain region overlapping with the olfactory cortex and ventral striatum—were systematically monitored in response to external rewards and distinct reward‐associated learning processes.

Field‐Free Spin‐Splitting‐Torque Driven Stochastic Neuron Mimicking the Neuromorphic Imagination for High‐Performance Recognition

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The human brain's imagination, which enables autonomous driving hazard avoidance by completing missing visual information, relies on Gaussian‐stochastic neuron. We report the altermagnetic RuO2 spintronic neurons integrating field‐free switching and intrinsic Gaussian stochasticity, building an all‐spin ANN for high‐quality image repairing and high ...

Low‐Power Control Of Resistance Switching Transitions in First‐Order Memristors

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
Joule losses are a serious concern in modern integrated circuit design. In this regard, minimizing the energy necessary for programming memristors should be handled with care. This manuscript presents an optimal control framework, allowing to derive energy‐efficient programming voltage protocols for resistance switching devices. Following this approach,

Child Food Insecurity: The Economic Impact on our Nation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
In this report we present the results of Children's HealthWatch's recent research on the associations of food insecurity and hunger, as measured by the US Food Security Scale, with child health, growth and development. In addition, we place these research

Kenyan Farmers' Policy Priorities During Economic Crisis and Stability: Insights From a Best‐Worst Scaling Experiment

open access: yesApplied Economic Perspectives and Policy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Amid rising food and fertilizer prices, understanding farmers' policy preferences is critical for effective crisis response. We use best‐worst scaling experiment to assess Kenyan mobile‐owning crop farmers' preferences for government support under high and normal price scenarios.

The Transgenerational Transmission of Trauma: The Effects of Maternal PTSD in Mother-Infant Interactions

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychiatry, 2020
The objective of the study was to examine the process of mother to infant trauma transmission among traumatized mothers in humanitarian contexts. We investigated the impact of mothers' post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms on the quality of the dyadic ...

Missouri Hunger Atlas 2013 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This atlas assesses the extent of food insecurity in the state of Missouri. It also begins to gauge how well public programs are doing in meeting the needs of those of our fellow citizens who have difficulty acquiring sufficient amounts and qualities of ...

Accounting for Substitution: Improving Estimates of GHG Reductions From Cattle‐Based Product Demand Shifts

open access: yesApplied Economic Perspectives and Policy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Estimates of reductions in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from lower demand for cattle‐based products must account for substitution effects. This study collected data through two surveys—one on ground beef and another on dairy milk—to evaluate substitution effects and potential GHG reductions.

Almost flat bundles and homological invariance of infinite K-area

open access: yes, 2018
We extend the notion of an almost flat bundle over a closed Riemannian manifold to bundles over simplicial complexes, and prove that up to a constant factor, this notion is invariant under pullback via maps which induce isomorphisms on fundamental groups.
