HVDC circuit breakers for HVDC grid applications

11th IET International Conference on AC and DC Power Transmission, 2015
High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) transmission has been expanding due to rapid development of power electronics technology and by the need for connection of offshore/remote wind farms and large hydro power generators. An HVDC grid will be required to operate the healthy lines continuously, even if a voltage collapse occurs at the remote end.

Research on Power Modulation Strategy for MMC-HVDC and LCC-HVDC in Parallel HVDC System

2019 IEEE 3rd Conference on Energy Internet and Energy System Integration (EI2), 2019
Due to the difference between MMC-HVDC and LCC-HVDC control characteristics and the mutual influence of parallel connection, its power modulation strategy is different from that of LCC-HVDC. Coordinated control strategy of parallel system of MMC-HVDC and LCC-HVDC is analyzed.

HVDC line protection for the proposed future HVDC systems

2004 International Conference on Power System Technology, 2004. PowerCon 2004., 2005
The paper reviews the ability of present protection systems to provide adequate protection for proposed future HVDC systems. This initial study reviews current protection systems used for DC line protection and highlights both the advantages and disadvantages of these systems including the factors that adversely influence their performance.

Pacific HVDC intertie

IEEE Power and Energy Magazine, 2007
Although not the first HVDC transmission scheme, the Pacific HVDC Intertie (PDCI) has been the subject of keen interest from the HVDC community from its earliest days. The initial configuration has been repeatedly altered over a period of more than 30 years as a result of various upgrades and in response to two major earthquakes, a fire, and ...
