Nanoreinforced HVOF-Sprayed Ceramic Coatings
International Thermal Spray Conference, 2005Abstract HVOF thermal spraying has been developed to deposit dense Al2O3-coatings with improved protective properties for various applications. Nanocrystalline coatings have been found to offer better thermal shock resistance, lower thermal conductivity and better wear resistance than their conventional counterparts.

Mechanical Properties of Nanocrystalline HVOF Coatings
Materials Science Forum, 2006Thermal spraying (TS) is increasingly used to deposit thick wear resistant coatings on machine and equipment parts. Therefore, it is of uttermost importance to know their mechanical properties in order to tailor and optimize the coatings for various applications.

Standard HVOF Process Compared to the HVOF Process for Internal Coating with Fine Powders
International Thermal Spray Conference, 2008Abstract The main argument against the use of the internal HVOF process is the high thermal stress to which the substrates are subjected during the coating process. Traditional HVOF guns operate with a flame-stream energy level of 100–200 kW. Rendering HVOF technology usable for the application of internal coatings requires the reduction

HVOF Coating and Characterization
2014HVOF Coating is one of the thermal barrier coatings to protect surfaces from high temperature, corrosion, and erosion environments. Coating characteristics including thickness, metallurgy, elemental composition, and morphology play an important role in practical applications.

Optimized HVOF Titania Coatings
Journal of Thermal Spray Technology, 2003A series of spray parameters was tested for a titania (TiO2) feedstock, and the in-flight particle temperature was measured for each setting combination. The parameter set that resulted in the highest particle temperature was selected for producing coatings for further study and analysis.

Cavitation Erosion of HVOF Coatings
International Thermal Spray Conference, 1996Abstract The proposed paper reports a series of experiments to investigate the cavitation erosion mechanism of HVOF coatings. Vibratory cavitation erosion tests according to ASTM G 32 have been carried out with several HVOF coatings including cermets, oxides and metallic alloys.

International Thermal Spray Conference, 2015
Abstract The Under Secretary of Defense mandated all DoD facilities reduce or eliminate Hexavalent Chrome from all processing environments. The USAF Landing Gear Systems Engineering located at Hill AFB Utah is converting all line of sight EHC plating to High Velocity Oxygen Fuel (HVOF) applied tungsten carbide-cobalt (WC/Co) and/or ...

Evaluation on Through-Porosity of HVOF Sprayed Coatings
International Thermal Spray Conference, 2002Abstract This study evaluates the through-porosity of HVOF-sprayed Hastelloy C coatings on carbon steel with respect to coating thickness and combustion pressure. The amount of through-porosity in the NiCrMo alloy layer is determined by chemical analysis, using ICP emission spectroscopy, and compared with electrochemical measurements ...

Computational modeling of the HVOF process
Thermal Spray Bulletin, 2014Precise control of the high velocity oxygen-fuel spray (HVOF) process parameters is important to obtain high-performance coatings. The coating particle in-flight state is commonly monitored by measuring the in-flight temperature and velocity. To complement the available measurement techniques, a computational model for the gas flow and coating powder ...

Corrosion Mechanism of NiCrWMo Coating Deposited by HVOF
ECS Transactions, 2014Coatings Ni-Co-W- Mo have excellent resistance to abrasion and wear, further have good resistance to corrosion in acid and alkaline aqueous media. The thermal spraying technique Oxy-Fuel high speed (Hight Velocity Oxygen-fuel) was used to deposit the coating of the alloy on 304 stainless steel substrates.
