Kirschner Wire as a Reference Marker for the Positioning of a Syndesmotic Screw: A Radiological Study and Clinical Evaluation

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, Volume 14, Issue 12, Page 3251-3260, December 2022., 2022
Up to now, there is no static and reliable intraoperative marker for accurately placing a distal syndesmotic screw. In this study, a gap was found at 2.5 cm proximal to the ankle plafond, which was wide enough to accommodate a 1.6‐mm Kirschner wire which can be used as a sign of the fibular incisura.

Autologous chondrocyte implantation, matrix‐induced autologous chondrocyte implantation, osteochondral autograft transplantation and osteochondral allograft improve knee function and pain with considerations for patient and cartilage defects characteristics: A systematic review and meta‐analysis

open access: yesKnee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose Previous studies have reported on the outcomes of autologous chondrocyte implantation (ACI) versus matrix‐induced ACI (MACI) and microfracture. Specific clinical outcomes of ACI, MACI, osteochondral autograft transplantation (OAT) and osteochondral allograft (OCA) have not been well studied.

Autologous Osteoperiosteal Transplantation for the Treatment of Large Cystic Talar Osteochondral Lesions

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, Volume 15, Issue 1, Page 103-110, January 2023., 2023
Large cystic talar osteochondral lesions are intractable clinical problems. The transplantation of osteoperiosteal cylinder autografts taken from the iliac crest for the treatment of large cystic lesions yielded acceptable pain and functional results.

Cytological Alterations of Benign Thyroid Nodules Following Radiofrequency Ablation

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
This prospective study of 312 patients with benign thyroid nodules treated with radiofrequency ablation showed a 3.84% progression to Bethesda III cytology, all confirmed benign by molecular testing, with an 88% volume reduction at 60 months and no major complications.

Ewing and Ewing‐like sarcomas: A morphological guide through genetically‐defined entities

open access: yesPathology International, Volume 73, Issue 1, Page 12-26, January 2023., 2023
Abstract The fifth edition of the World Health Organization classification of soft tissue and bone tumors redefined Ewing sarcoma by fusions between EWSR1/FUS and ETS family of transcription factors, and recognized three tumor groups among Ewing‐like sarcoma: CIC‐rearranged sarcoma, sarcoma with BCOR genetic alterations, and round cell sarcoma with ...

An Injectable PEG/Diacerein‐Based Anti‐Inflammatory Hydrogel for Promoting Cartilage Regeneration: An In Vivo Study

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, EarlyView.
In this paper, an injectable hydrogel is prepared that can be utilized as a tissue engineering scaffold for cartilage repair. This scaffold is capable of promoting cartilage regeneration and reducing inflammation caused by cartilage defects, thus holding broad application prospects in the repair of cartilage defects.

Prorocentrum pervagatum sp. nov. (Prorocentrales, Dinophyceae): A new, small, planktonic species with a global distribution

open access: yesPhycological Research, Volume 71, Issue 1, Page 56-71, January 2023., 2023
SUMMARY Prorocentrum comprises a unique group of dinophytes with several apomorphic traits, such as an apical insertion of flagella and the presence of two major, large thecal plates. Species delimitation is challenging, especially for morphologically very similar, small planktonic species.

Exploration of Neurodegenerative Diseases Using Long‐Read Sequencing and Optical Genome Mapping Technologies

open access: yesMovement Disorders, EarlyView.
Abstract Genetic factors play a central role in neurodegenerative disorders. Over the past few decades, significant progress has been made in identifying the causative genes of numerous monogenic disorders, largely due to the widespread adoption of next‐generation sequencing (NGS) technologies in both research and clinical settings.
