Effect of lowdose irradiation on structural and mechanical properties of hyaline cartilagelike fibrocartilage

open access: yesActa Orthopaedica et Traumatologica Turcica, 2020
Objective: The aim of this study was to analyze the effect of low-dose irradiation on fibrous cartilage and to obtain a hyaline cartilage-like fibrocartilage (HCLF) with similar structural and mechanical properties to hyaline cartilage.

A preclinical evaluation of an autologous living hyaline-like cartilaginous graft for articular cartilage repair: a pilot study

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2015
In this pilot study, an autologous synthetic scaffold-free construct with hyaline quality, termed living hyaline cartilaginous graft (LhCG), was applied for treating cartilage lesions.

A new Hyphessobrycon (Characiformes: Acestrorhamphidae) of the Hyphessobrycon agulha lineage of Hyphessobryconinae from the lower Aripuanã basin, Brazil, with comments about the lineage

open access: yesJournal of Fish Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract A new species of Hyphessobrycon is described from a tributary of Rio Jatuarana, lower Rio Aripuanã basin, Rio Madeira basin, Apuí, Amazonas. The new species is part of the Hyphessobrycon agulha lineage, with the typical midlateral narrow black stripe immediately followed dorsally by an iridescent stripe.

Osteochondral grafting of knee joint using mosaicplasty [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Focal cartilage defects of articular surface-traumatic and degenerative are difficult to treat, thus a variety of surgical techniques have been developed and reported for treatment of such defects. Procedures such as Priddies perforations, microfracture,

The wide gape of snakes: A comparison of the developing mandibular symphysis in sauropsids

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, EarlyView.
Our analysis explores the adaptations at the mandibular symphysis required to allow extreme lower jaw mobility in macrostomate snakes taking a comparative approach. Abstract The origin and evolution of snakes has been marked by the acquisition of many morphological and functional novelties, one of which is the possession of a highly kinetic skull ...

Engineering a Fibrocartilage Spectrum through Modulation of Aggregate Redifferentiation

open access: yesCell Transplantation, 2015
Expanded costochondral cells provide a clinically relevant cell source for engineering both fibrous and hyaline articular cartilage. Expanding chondrocytes in a monolayer results in a shift toward a proliferative, fibroblastic phenotype.

Animal experimental research on microstructural behavior on the hyaline arthroidal cartilage after immobilization and remobilization [PDF]

open access: yes
The degeneration of the articular cartilage after a period of immobilization was investigated. The experiment was carried out by the immobilization of the knee joints of rabbits. Even after remobilization there was an increase in the alterations.
