Performance Analysis of Hybrid ARQ for Ultra-Reliable Low Latency Communications
Considering an ultra-reliable low latency communication scenario, we assess the trade-off in terms of energy consumption between achieving time diversity through retransmissions and having to communicate at a higher rate due to latency constraints.

Throughput Analysis of General Network Coding Nodes Based on SW-ARQ Transmission [PDF]
The steady-state throughput of general network coding node is investigated, when data is transmitted in packets based on the stop-and-wait automatic repeat request (SW-ARQ) error-control scheme.

A soft combining approach utilising symbol-by-symbol maximum a posteriori probability decoding is proposed for hybrid automatic repeat request schemes. In comparison to an existing soft combining approach, significant reductions in post-decoding bit error rate can be obtained without sacrificing the throughput efficiency.

A Low‐Cost, Handheld Optical Stiffness Sensor for Minimally Invasive Surgery
A novel handheld stiffness sensor is presented for real‐time tissue stiffness characterization. By simultaneously sensing contact force and tissue deformation, the device enables accurate stiffness quantification without requiring precise manual control. This approach offers a promising solution for intraoperative tumor detection and minimally invasive

Diversity Combining Type I-Hybrid ARQ protocol over m-ary Asymmetric Varshamov channels
Errors in multilevel flash memories and multilevel optical systems are asymmetric in nature because of the underlying device physics. These errors can be modeled using the m-ary asymmetric channel.

Relay Switching Aided Turbo Coded Hybrid-ARQ for Correlated Fading Channel
Hybrid-Automatic-Repeat-reQuest (HARQ) has become an indispensable technique in reliable communications systems. However, its performance is inevitably affected by the channel’s fading correlation. In this paper, we proposed a novel relay-switching aided

Design of rate-compatible low-density parity-check codes for type-II hybrid ARQ systems
The design of powerful rate-compatible low-density parity-check codes(RC-LDPC)was constructed in zigzag structure for type-II hybrid ARQ systems. The generalized PEG algorithm was used in the process of constructing RC-LDPC codes to improve the ...

Low-Complexity Multiple-Component Turbo Decoding Aided Hybrid ARQ
Previous research has focused on improving the throughput of Hybrid Automatic Repeat reQuest (HARQ) schemes. However, since turbo codes have been introduced into HARQ schemes, their complexity has increased owing to the iterative Bahl, Cocke, Jelinek and
