Hybrid Composite Cable With an Increased Specific Strength for Tensioned Structures

open access: yesThe Baltic Journal of Road and Bridge Engineering, 2008
High-strength hybrid composite cables with large specific strength on the basis of such materials as carbon fibre reinforced plastics (CFRP), glass fibre reinforced plastics (GFRP) and Vectran, are widely used in constructional practice.

Chitosan-TiO2: A Versatile Hybrid Composite [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials, 2020
In recent years, a strong interest has emerged in hybrid composites and their potential uses, especially in chitosan–titanium dioxide (CS–TiO2) composites, which have interesting technological properties and applications. This review describes the reported advantages and limitations of the functionalization of chitosan by adding TiO2 nanoparticles ...

The Mechanical and Thermal Properties of Polymer Hybrid Composite Reinforced by Rice Husk Ash at Different Conditions [PDF]

open access: yesEngineering and Technology Journal, 2014
This research was carried out to study the effect of natural and calcined temperature of rice husk ash with selected temperature (900,1100,1300oC) on the mechanical and thermal properties for the prepared hybrid composite with fixed volume fraction (25 ...

Mechanical properties and failure mechanism analysis of basalt-glass fibers hybrid FRP composite bars

open access: yesCase Studies in Construction Materials, 2023
In order to solve the defect of insufficient performance of the single fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) bars. The basalt fibers and glass fibers are prepared into the basalt-glass fibers hybrid FRP composite bars (B/G hybrid FRP bars) in this paper.

Hybrid Quantum-Classical Master Equations

open access: yes, 2014
We discuss hybrid master equations of composite systems which are hybrids of classical and quantum subsystems. A fairly general form of hybrid master equations is suggested, its consistency is derived from the consistency of Lindblad quantum master ...

Resource allocation and scheduling of multiple composite web services in cloud computing using cooperative coevolution genetic algorithm [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In cloud computing, resource allocation and scheduling of multiple composite web services is an important and challenging problem. This is especially so in a hybrid cloud where there may be some low-cost resources available from private clouds and some ...

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).
