Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.

Preparation and improved mechanical properties of three-dimensional woven fabrics reinforced thermoplastic composites based on intra-yarn hybrid flax/basalt fibers

open access: yesIndustrial Crops and Products
Three-dimensional (3D) woven fabric reinforced thermoplastic composites with natural and synthetic hybrid fibers have advantages of high modulus, recyclability, excellent structure integrality and delamination resistance. However, the full penetration of

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Mechanical and moisture diffusion behaviour of hybrid Kevlar/Cocos nucifera sheath reinforced epoxy composites

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2019
The aim of this research is partial replacement of plain woven Kevlar 29(K) with naturally woven cocous nucifera sheath (CS) waste. Laminated K/CS reinforced epoxy hybrid composites were fabricated by hand lay-up method followed by hot compression ...

UD HYBRID COMPOSITE OVERLOAD SENSORS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Composite materials are widely used in various structural applications due to their low density, high specific strength and stiffness, corrosion resistance, and good fatigue properties. However composites usually fail in a catastrophic manner and detecting damage, if there is any, prior to final failure has been a significant challenge.

Mechanical and thermal properties of natural fibre based hybrid composites: a review [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Environmental issues have motivated researchers to replace synthetic fibres with natural fibres in the fabrication of polymer composites. However, natural fibres demonstrate weak mechanical or thermal properties which limit their different applications ...

Nanotexture influence of BaTiO3 particles on piezoelectric behaviour of PA 11/BaTiO3 nanocomposites [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The piezoelectric activity of a hybrid ferroelectric nanocomposite, i.e. polyamide 11/barium titanate (BT), has been investigated for different loadings of BT particles.

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.
