A Hybrid Control of Seismically Excited Structures by Confinement of Vibrations

Journal of Vibration and Control, 2004
We propose a hybrid control strategy, aimed at confining and suppressing simultaneously the vbratory motion in seismically excited structures. It is assumed that these structures are composed of n floors that are sensitive to vibrations, resulting from earthquake excitations. A number (m) of inter-story bracing elements, assumed to be the non-sensitive

Hybrid Automata as a Unifying Framework for Modeling Excitable Cells

2006 International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 2006
We propose hybrid automata (HA) as a unifying framework for computational models of excitable cells. HA, which combine discrete transition graphs with continuous dynamics, can be naturally used to obtain a piecewise, possibly linear, approximation of a nonlinear excitable-cell model.

Risk Evaluation for Hybrid Excitation Compulsator

IEEE Transactions on Plasma Science, 2015
In the field of compulsators, hybrid excitation concepts have been verified through the development of several hybrid excitation prototypes. Although there are some advantages associated with the hybrid excitation compulsator in comparison with the traditional electrical excitation topology compulsator, some drawbacks still exist, which may lead to ...

Analysis of a hybrid excitation DC motor

2008 18th International Conference on Electrical Machines, 2008
In some niche applications, e.g. emergency pumps operating in case of fire, a high reliability and a constant speed operation capability are basically required. This paper deals with the use of hybrid excitation in DC motors to permit a highly reliable operation under adjustable field supply and unregulated armature supply, e.g.

Parametric excitation of lower hybrid instabilities

The Physics of Fluids, 1973
The application of a sufficiently intense long wavelength oscillating electric field at the lower hybrid frequency to a plasma with two ion species leads to instability of finite wavelength electron-ion lower hybrid modes and a purely growing modification of the ion-ion hybrid mode.

Double disc alternators with hybrid excitation

IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 1992
The authors investigate a version of a double disc alternator which uses both a stationary coil on the armature side of the airgap and permanent magnets on the rotor side for excitation. The machine is brushless without the use of rotating diodes, but nevertheless can be voltage regulated.

Risk evaluation for hybrid excitation compulsator

2014 17th International Symposium on Electromagnetic Launch Technology, 2014
Hybrid concepts had been validated in the field of compulsator through the research of several hybrid excitation prototypes. Although there are some advantages for the hybrid excitation compulsator in comparison with the traditional electrical excitation topology compulsator, there still exist some ris ks which may demagnetize the permanent magnets and

Hybrid excited claw pole electric machine

2016 21st International Conference on Methods and Models in Automation and Robotics (MMAR), 2016
The paper presents the concept and results of simulation and experimental research of a claw pole generator with hybrid excitation. Hybrid excitation is performed with a conventional coil located between two parts of the claw-shape rotor and additional permanent magnets which are placed on claw poles.

Design of Halbach hybrid excitation compulsator

2014 17th International Symposium on Electromagnetic Launch Technology, 2014
Pulsed alternators integrate kinetic energy storage, electromechanical energy conversion and pulse shaping in one unit, and it is the research focused on the field of pulsed power sources. The electrical excitation and the permanent magnet excitation are contained in one hybrid excitation pulsed generator together in which the advantages of two ...

An extended plasma generator with hybrid excitation

Siberian Russian Student Workshops and Tutorials on Electron Devices and Materials (Cat. No.00EX416), 2002
The increasing requirements for uniformity of a plasma torch, and the necessity of holding of group technological processes, compel us to develop new layout designs of RF plasma generators. One perspective design is an RF generator based on a distributed amplifier.
