Performance of Hybrid Fiber Reinforced Concrete with Steel Fibers and Polypropylene Fibers
Civil Engineering and Urban Planning 2012, 2012The geometrical size and modulus of fibers are the main factors influencing the mechanical performances of fiber reinforced concrete. The use of different type of fiber in a suitable combination may potentially improve the overall mechanical performances of concrete and result in performance synergy.

For more than 10 years, fiber optic sensors have been projected as a dominant sensor technology for the future. This projection has yet to be realized. There continues to be a substantial level of research and development in various fiber sensors concepts, yet only a few products are available commercially. The major factors limiting the success of the

Hybrid fibers: multimaterial nanophotonic devices in fiber form
Asia Communications and Photonics Conference, 2012I will review our recent results related to nanophotonic hybrid fibers. I will discuss plasmonic hybridization inside fibers and the optical properties of highly nonlinear chalcogenide-silica waveguides and their application in infrared supercontinuum generation.

Flammability behavior of fiber–fiber hybrid fabrics and composites
Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 2011AbstractThe effect of heat flux levels on burning behavior and heat transmission properties of hybrid fabrics and composites has been investigated using cone calorimeter and heat transmission techniques. The hybrid fabric structures woven out of E‐glass (warp) and polyether ether ketone (PEEK) (weft) and E‐glass (warp) and polyester (weft) have been ...

Hybrid combinations of sawdust and surface-treated glass fiber were used as reinforcing filler for polystyrene composites. Under study was the effect of various parameters [e.g., wood species (e.g., hardwood aspen and softwood spruce), pretreatment of sawdust (e.g., coating with polymer + isocyanate or with a silane coupling agent and grafting), filler

From Hybrid Fiber Coax to All-Fiber Networks
European Conference and Exhibition on Optical Communication, 2012Cable operators have many options to increase throughput as they progress towards an all-fiber network, including migrating from analog to digital video, increasing compression, using advanced modulation, allocating more upstream spectrum and pushing fiber deeper.

Fiber-based, hybrid terahertz spectrometer using dual fiber combs
Optics Letters, 2010We constructed a fiber-based, hybrid terahertz (THz) spectrometer having two working modes, asynchronous-optical-sampling THz time-domain spectroscopy (AOS-THz-TDS) and multiple-frequency-heterodyning THz comb spectroscopy (MFH-THz-CS), by use of dual fiber-laser-based frequency combs.

Research in optical fiber sensors (OFS) began in earnest in 1977 and for some years subsequently fiber optics was regarded as a sensor technology with great potential likely to emerge in the late 1980s as a generic series of sensors capable of determining all common measurands.

Impact Behavior of Hybrid-Fiber and Hybrid-Matrix Composites
Journal of Reinforced Plastics and Composites, 1991Fracture behavior of advanced interlaminar hybrid composites has been investigated. Single-matrix/double-fiber, double-matrix/single-fiber, and double-matrix/ double-fiber hybrids as well as their single-fiber/single-matrix control versions were stud ied.
