Digitized RF-over-fiber transport for hybrid fiber-wireless links
2011 IEEE GLOBECOM Workshops (GC Wkshps), 2011In this paper, we review our recent work on digitized RF transport to improve the performance of fiber-wireless links by overcoming the inherent problems related to analog transport.

Hybrid laser-to-fiber coupler with a cylindrical lens
Applied Optics, 1977Several laser-to-fiber coupling schemes have been compared with regard to coupling efficiency. A coupling scheme with a cylindrical lens is simple and effective for enhancing coupling efficiency. As a mounting and aligning structure for the laser-to-fiber coupling with a cylindrical lens, a hybrid structure has been proposed using a copper mount on ...

Soliton fiber laser with a hybrid saturable absorber
Optics Letters, 1996We present an experimental study of a picosecond fiber soliton laser in which mode locking is achieved by the combined action of a multiple-quantum-well saturable absorber and a nonlinear amplifying loop mirror. In this configuration the multiple-quantum-well sample acts not only as a saturable absorber but also as a passive phase modulator, while the ...

Hybrid fibers: a base for creating new sensing fibers
SPIE Proceedings, 2014Hybrid optical fibers are fiber-type waveguides including multimaterial large-aspect ratio nano- and microstructures. Using our pressure-assisted melt-filling approach various hybrid waveguides have been fabricated inside photonic crystal fibers by filling the air holes with materials such as noble metals, semiconductors, fluids or low-melting compound

HYBRID FIBER REINFORCED CONCRETE
2007This paper describes the mechanical performance of hybrid fiber concrete with a maximum fiber dosage of 0.75 Vol.%. Two types of fibers were used: short straight steel fibers and long hooked-end steel fibers. The concrete compressive strength (fc,cub150) varied between 55 and 65 MPa, dependent on the fiber mixture.

All-Fiber Hybrid Fiber Bragg Gratings Cavity for Sensing Applications
2009By now, fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) represent a well assessed technology in sensing field. Unfortunately, to make FBGs sensitive to surrounding refractive index, hosting fiber structuring is needed. In last years, also tilted FBGs (TFBGs) have been proposed as promising technological platform for sensing applications. However, complex spectral features
