Selective Separation of the Rare Earth Elements Dysprosium and Neodymium via Tailoring Nanocellulose Chemical Structure

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Dicarboxylate‐modified anionic hairy cellulose nanocrystals exhibit a high selectivity for dysprosium(III) over neodymium(III). This selectivity arises from disordered dicarboxylate cellulose “hairs” that enable cooperative ionic coordination, hydrogen bonding, and strain‐induced conformational shrinkage.

Dense Nanofibrillar Collagen–Silica Hybrids with High Strength and ECM‐Mimetic Tissue Integration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Dense nanofibrillar collagen–silica hybrids are engineered by synchronizing collagen fibrillogenesis with silica condensation, producing printable scaffolds that unexpectedly approach native extracellular matrix organization and strength. These cell‐free constructs guide endogenous cell‐infiltration, enable localized matrix remodeling, and integrate ...

Performance of self-compacting concrete containing hybrid fibers in aggressive environment

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
Self-compacting concrete can be used in many concrete applications some of it susceptible to acid attacks. The aims of this study are to investigate the resistance of different SCC mixture designs to sulphuric acid attacks.

Bio‐Inspired Molecular Events in Poly(Ionic Liquids)

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Originating from dipolar and polar inter‐ and intra‐chain interactions of the building blocks, the topologies and morphologies of poly(ionic liquids) (PIL) govern their nano‐ and micro‐processibility. Modulating the interactions of cation‐anion pairs with aliphatic dipolar components enables the tunability of properties, facilitated by “bottom‐up ...

Mechanical behavior and damage constitutive relationship of basalt-brucite hybrid fiber reinforced low-heat cement concrete

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
In this study, the mechanical properties and microstructure of basalt-brucite hybrid fiber reinforced low heat cement concrete was explored. The results indicated that the mechanical properties of low heat cement concrete first increase and then decrease

Unraveling Quantitative Sensing Mechanism and Predictive Molecular Metrics for High‐Performance OFET Amine Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a novel chloro boron subphthalocyanine/polymer blend OFET sensor achieving 0.005 ppb limit of detection for ammonia at room temperature and high selectivity against similar amines. An original theoretical framework is proposed to describe the sensing mechanism, relating analyte molecular volume and Lewis basicity to sensor ...

Hybrid satellite-fiber quantum network

open access: yesPhysical Review Applied
Quantum networks hold promise for key distribution, private and distributed computing, and quantum sensing, among other applications. The scale of such networks for ground users is currently limited by one’s ability to distribute entanglement between distant locations.

Scalable Polyelectrolyte Complex‐Based Sorbent With Hourly Sorption−Desorption Cycles for Multicyclic Atmospheric Water Harvesting in Arid Environments

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A polyelectrolyte complex‐based sorbent is produced by scalable, environmentally benign aqueous phase inversion. Its porous, LiCl‐ and GO‐integrated architecture enables hourly adsorption−desorption cycles at low relative humidity (RH < 30%). A large‐scale prototype achieves multicyclic, solar‐driven atmospheric water harvesting of 1.37 L kg−1 day−1 ...
