Hybrid fiber-coax access networks
Bell Labs Technical Journal, 1996As the communications industry moves rapidly toward open communication, it is introducing new, higher bandwidth services. Providers of communications services must develop new services while continuing to protect their existing revenue. The HFC-2000™ broadband access system, a cost-effective, full service network solution, was designed to address these

Hybrid Fiber Coaxial Network Design
Operations Research, 2002Much interest exists in broadband network services to deliver a variety of products to consumers, such as Internet access, telephony, interactive TV, and video on demand. Due to its cost efficiency, Hybrid Fiber Coaxial (HFC) technology is currently being considered by most Telcos and cable companies as the technology to deliver these products.

Hybrid Brillouin/erbium fiber laser
Optics Letters, 1996We propose and demonstrate a novel hybrid Brillouin/erbium fiber laser that uses both Brillouin gain in singlemode optical fiber and gain in erbium-doped fiber. The lasing frequency was accurately determined by the Brillouin shift in single-mode optical fiber and was 10.35 GHz from the Brillouin pump.

Abstract The hybridfibers were made by coating MWNT on the glass fiber yarns using dip coating technique. Totally four types of hybridfibers were made with different MWNT weight percentages (0, 0.1, and 0.2). Tensile tests were carried out to examine the effect of MWNT coating on glass fiber on strength and stiffness of the hybridfibers. Further, the

Performance of Hybrid Fiber Reinforced Concrete with Steel Fibers and Polypropylene Fibers
Civil Engineering and Urban Planning 2012, 2012The geometrical size and modulus of fibers are the main factors influencing the mechanical performances of fiber reinforced concrete. The use of different type of fiber in a suitable combination may potentially improve the overall mechanical performances of concrete and result in performance synergy.

For more than 10 years, fiber optic sensors have been projected as a dominant sensor technology for the future. This projection has yet to be realized. There continues to be a substantial level of research and development in various fiber sensors concepts, yet only a few products are available commercially. The major factors limiting the success of the

Hybrid fibers: multimaterial nanophotonic devices in fiber form
Asia Communications and Photonics Conference, 2012I will review our recent results related to nanophotonic hybrid fibers. I will discuss plasmonic hybridization inside fibers and the optical properties of highly nonlinear chalcogenide-silica waveguides and their application in infrared supercontinuum generation.

Flammability behavior of fiber–fiber hybrid fabrics and composites
Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 2011AbstractThe effect of heat flux levels on burning behavior and heat transmission properties of hybrid fabrics and composites has been investigated using cone calorimeter and heat transmission techniques. The hybrid fabric structures woven out of E‐glass (warp) and polyether ether ketone (PEEK) (weft) and E‐glass (warp) and polyester (weft) have been ...
