The contribution of intersubspecific hybridization to the breeding of super-high-yielding japonica rice in northeast China

Theoretical and Applied Genetics, 2012
Hybridization between indica and japonica rice combined with utilization of ideal plant type has led to the development of high-yielding japonica rice in northern China. However, the contribution at the genomic level of intersubspecific hybridization to the increased yield of northern Chinese japonica rice is uncertain.

Stacking S5-n and f5-n to overcome sterility in indica–japonica hybrid rice

Theoretical and Applied Genetics, 2015
Pyramiding of S5 - n and f5 - n cumulatively improved seed-setting rate of indica-japonica hybrids, which provided an effective approach for utilization of inter-subspecific heterosis in rice breeding. Breeding for indica-japonica hybrid rice is an attractive approach to increase rice yield.

A genetic analysis of low‐temperature‐sensitive sterility in indica‐japonica rice hybrids

Plant Breeding, 1996
AbstractLow‐temperature‐sensitive sterility has become one of the major obstacles in indica–japonica hybrid rice breeding. The objectives of this paper were to evaluate the extent of the fertility reduction and to determine the genetic basis of low‐temperature‐sensitive sterility.
