Complementarity modeling of hybrid systems [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, 1998
The authors describe a complementarity framework for hybrid systems, e.g. for switching control systems. They introduce complementarity systems and investigate well-posedness of complementarity systems. The main results are concerned with uniqueness of smooth continuations.

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Volatility Modelling Using Hybrid Autoregressive Conditional Heteroskedasticity (ARCH) - Support Vector Regression (SVR) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
High fluctuations in stock returns is one problem that is considered by the investors. Therefore we need a model that is able to predict accurately the volatility of stock returns.

Stochastic Modeling of Hybrid Cache Systems

open access: yes, 2016
In recent years, there is an increasing demand of big memory systems so to perform large scale data analytics. Since DRAM memories are expensive, some researchers are suggesting to use other memory systems such as non-volatile memory (NVM) technology to ...

Hybrid modeling, HMM/NN architectures, and protein applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
We describe a hybrid modeling approach where the parameters of a model are calculated and modulated by another model, typically a neural network (NN), to avoid both overfitting and underfitting.

Hybrid cognitive diagnostic model

open access: yesBehaviormetrika, 2020
Cognitive diagnostic models can be classified into two categories based on the type of interaction between attributes: disjunctive and conjunctive. A representative example of the former is the “Deterministic Input Noisy-Or gate” (DINO) model, and of the latter is the “Deterministic Input Noisy-And gate” (DINA) model.

A hybrid model of categorization [PDF]

open access: yesPsychonomic Bulletin & Review, 2001
Category learning is often modeled as either an exemplar-based or a rule-based process. This paper shows that both strategies can be combined in a cognitive architecture that was developed to model other task domains. Variations on the exemplar-based random walk (EBRW) model of Nosofsky and Palmeri (1997b) and the rule-plus-exception (RULEX) rule-based

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

A Hybrid Framework for Offshore Wind Power Forecasting: Integrating CNN-BiGRU-XGBoost with Advanced Feature Engineering and Analysis

open access: yesEnergies
This paper proposes a hybrid forecasting model for offshore wind power, combining CNN, BiGRU, and XGBoost to address the challenges of fluctuating wind speeds and complex meteorological conditions.
