Preparation and characterisation of irradiated waste eggshells as oil adsorbent [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Adsorption method had been developed by using natural organic adsorbent for the removal of oil because of its ability to bind the oil molecules into the surface of adsorbent.

Stability of grid amplifiers [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
We present a stability model for quasi-optical grid amplifiers. This model is useful for predicting and suppressing the common-mode oscillations that often occur in amplifier grids. Three stabilization techniques will be discussed.

Femtosecond pulses at 50-W average power from an Yb:YAG planar waveguide amplifier seeded by an Yb:KYW oscillator [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We report the demonstration of a high-power single-side-pumped Yb:YAG planar waveguide amplifier seeded by an Yb:KYW femtosecond laser. Five passes through the amplifier yielded 700-fs pulses with average powers of 50 W at 1030 nm. A numerical simulation

Hybrid External Cavity Laser with an Amorphous Silicon-Based Photonic Crystal Cavity Mirror

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2019
The authors present results on the performance of a hybrid external cavity photonic crystal laser-comprising semiconductor optical amplifier, and a 2D photonic crystal cavity fabricated in low-temperature amorphous silicon.

Enhanced weak force sensing based on atom-based coherent quantum noise cancellation in a hybrid cavity optomechanical system

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics, 2023
The weak force sensing based on a coherent quantum noise cancellation (CQNC) scheme is presented in a hybrid cavity optomechanical system containing a trapped ensemble of ultracold atoms and an optical parametric amplifier (OPA).

Triple-wavelength fiber ring laser based on a hybrid gain medium actively mode-locked at 10 GHz [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
A fiber ring laser based on a hybrid gain medium that produces three simultaneously mode-locked wavelength channels is presented. The lithium niobate based modulator used to actively mode-lock the laser cavity at 10 GHz is birefringence compensated to ...

Demonstration of a heterogeneously integrated III-V/SOI single wavelength tunable laser [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
A heterogeneously integrated III-V-on-silicon laser is reported, integrating a III-V gain section, a silicon ring resonator for wavelength selection and two silicon Bragg grating reflectors as back and front mirrors.

Performance investigation of a hybrid fiber optical parametric amplifier

open access: yesOptics Express, 2013
We demonstrate reduction of four-wave mixing crosstalk using hybrid optical parametric amplifier with erbium-doped fiber amplifier. Crosstalk reduction of more than 13 dB has been achieved while providing 20-dB gain. Noise figures of different amplifier configurations are compared. Bit error rate measurements confirm the hybrid configuration introduces

Diode-Pumped High Energy and High Average Power All-Solid-State Picosecond Amplifier Systems

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2015
We present our research on the high energy picosecond laser operating at a repetition rate of 1 kHz and the high average power picosecond laser running at 100 kHz based on bulk Nd-doped crystals.

Study of the Effects of Cavity Mode Spacing on Mode-Hopping in III–V/Si Hybrid Photonic Crystal Lasers

open access: yesCrystals, 2021
We present a design methodology for hybrid lasers to realise mode-hop free operation by controlling the cavity mode spacing. In this study, a compact hybrid photonic crystal laser (H-PhCL) was employed which allowed a reduction of the Fabry–Perot length ...
