OsNRT1.1B‐OsCNGC14/16‐Ca2+‐OsNLP3 Pathway: Phosphorylation‐Mediated Maintenance of Nitrogen Homeostasis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
OsNRT1.1B forms a membrane complex with OsCNGC14/16 that mediates nitrate‐triggered calcium influx. This calcium signal phosphorylates OsNLP3 at Ser193, accelerating its nuclear translocation and activating nitrogen‐responsive genes. The calcium‐dependent pathway complements the established ubiquitination‐mediated pathway, dynamically regulating ...

Multifunctional Carbon Dots for Electrochemical Capacitors Reviewed: Their Opportunities and Challenges

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Carbon dots (CDs) with unique natures of small size, high specific surface area, and tunable surface functional groups significantly enhance the specific capacitance and cycling stability of electrochemical capacitors (ECs). This review systematically discusses critical challenges and opportunities associated with multifunctional CDs in ECs, aiming to ...

Interactional similarities and differences in the protein complex of PCNA and DNA replication factor C between rice and Arabidopsis

open access: yesBMC Plant Biology, 2019
Background Proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA), a conserved trimeric ring complex, is loaded onto replication fork through a hetero-pentameric AAA+ ATPase complex termed replication factor C (RFC) to maintain genome stability.

SP3 and DEP1 Orchestrate Panicle Architecture by Jointly Regulating APO2 Expression in Rice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The transcription factor SP3 enhances inflorescence meristem activity and interacts with the cysteine‐rich domain of DEP1. This interaction alters DEP1's subcellular localization between the plasma membrane and nucleus, and suppresses SP3‐mediated transcriptional activation of APO2.

The CtrCBL1/CtrCIPK6 Complex of Citrus Phosphorylates CtrBBX32 to Regulate CtrSTP1‐Mediated Sugar Accumulation and Cold Tolerance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The CtrCBL1‐CtrCIPK6 module of trifoliate orange (Citrus trifoliata L.) phosphorylates CtrBBX32, triggering its protein degradation under cold conditions, thereby relieving CtrBBX32‐mediated transcriptional repression of CtrZAT10 and CtrSTP1. The consequent upregulation of CtrZAT10 further activates CtrSTP1 expression, which enhances hexose transport ...

MoMtg1 Acts as a Novel Transcriptional Repressor of MoSwi6 During Appressorium‐Mediated Penetration in the Rice Blast Fungus

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Appressoria are specialized penetration structures for many plant pathogenic fungi, demanding precise cell cycle control. This study unveils MoMtg1 as a transcriptional repressor of MoSwi6, orchestrating MoCYC1 expression during turgor‐driven cell cycle progression to enable appressorium‐mediated penetration. Moreover, a small‐molecule inhibitor ZS1619

Papain-like and legumain-like proteases in rice: genome-wide identification, comprehensive gene feature characterization and expression analysis

open access: yesBMC Plant Biology, 2018
Background Papain-like and legumain-like proteases are proteolytic enzymes which play key roles in plant development, senescence and defense. The activities of proteases in both families could be inhibited by a group of small proteins called cystatin ...
