Distributive Politics and Class Dynamics in Rural Java

open access: yesJournal of Agrarian Change, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Based on fieldwork in a village I call Lone Teak in East Java, Indonesia, this paper examines emerging patterns of class differentiation and distributive politics. The history of Lone Teak's landholding structure reveals long‐term patterns of inequality. However, since widespread deforestation during 1998–2002, new dynamics emerged.

Beyond the Paycheck: Family Systems, Adult Children's Job Sector, and Parental Subjective Well‐Being in China

open access: yesJournal of Marriage and Family, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Applying family systems theory, this study examines the relationship between adult children's job sector (public vs. private) and parental subjective well‐being in post‐reform China. Gender disparity and mechanisms have also been examined.

When Duality Fails: Addressing the Liability of Hybridity in a Field Dominated by Non‐profit Values

open access: yesJournal of Management Studies, EarlyView.
Abstract Scholars have explored how hybrid organizations balance conflicting values internally, but less attention has been given to how they address critiques from external stakeholders who regard the combination of social and economic goals as illegitimate.

Genetics of fertility restoration in hybrid rice [PDF]

open access: possibleTheoretical and Applied Genetics, 1992
The cross combination involving 14 male-sterile lines in rice, when crossed with different maintainers, showed fertility restoration in certain combinations. When F2 segregating populations were classified based on spikelet fertility, fertility restoration was shown to be governed by 3∶1, 9∶3∶3∶1, and 12∶3∶1, due to allelic differences.

Resistance to Blast in Hybrid Rice

2000
Rice blast caused by Pyricularia grisea (Cooke) Sacc., is one of the most important diseases both in irrigated and upland rice ecosystems, in Brazil. Low durability of the blast resistance has been a common factor for all cultivars released so far to farmers.

Molecular mechanisms of hybrid sterility in rice

Science China Life Sciences, 2019
Hybrid sterility presents a major bottleneck in hybrid crop breeding and causes postzygotic reproductive isolation in speciation. Here, we summarize the current understanding of the genetics of rice hybrid sterility and highlight new advances in deciphering the molecular basis of the major genetic loci for hybrid sterility in rice.

Hybrid Rice Production Possibilities in the Southern Rice Producing Region [PDF]

open access: possibleJournal of American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers, 2011
Hybrid rice represents a new and increasing popular variety option for rice producers. This study examines the acreage diversification among long grain rice varieties in the southern rice region and presents estimates of thedifferences in expected costs and returns among the production of conventional, Clearfield®, and hybrid rice varieties.

A hybrid rice optimization algorithm

2016 11th International Conference on Computer Science & Education (ICCSE), 2016
An optimization algorithm called hybrid rice optimization algorithm (HRO) is proposed in the paper which is inspired by the breeding process of three line hybrid rice. The three line are sterile line, maintainer line, restorer line. The sterile line is hybridized with the maintainer line to produce the hybrid rice.
