Restart transients of hybrid rocket engines.

Journal of Spacecraft and Rockets, 1973
Experimental investigation of the problems associated with restarting hybrid rocket motors (i.e., motors wherein a liquid or gaseous oxidizer is injected into the port of a solid fuel grain with subsequent mixing and combustion of the oxidizer and fuel) following a brief period of extinguishment. The results include the finding that the ignition delay

Numerical investigations of hybrid rocket engines

Acta Astronautica, 2018
Abstract Paper presents the results of numerical studies of hybrid rocket engines operating cycle including unsteady-state transition stage. A mathematical model is developed accounting for the peculiarities of diffusion combustion of fuel in the flow of oxidant, which is composed of oxygen-nitrogen mixture.

Optimal battery selection for hybrid rocket engine

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2022
In the present paper, the optimal selection of batteries for an electric pump -fed hybrid rocket engine is analyzed. A two -stage Mars Ascent Vehicle, suitable for the Mars Sample Return Mission, is considered as test case. A single engine is employed in the second stage, whereas the first stage uses a cluster of two engines.

Hybrid Gas Generator for a Staged Hybrid Rocket Engine

Journal of Propulsion and Power, 2017
The two-stage combustion hybrid rocket engine with a hybrid gas generator method offers numerous advantages over a solid-propellant gas generator and classical hybrid rocket engines. These advantages include a higher specific impulse in operation, lower lifecycle costs, and lower sensitivity to combustion pressure.
