A Lightweight Procedural Layer for Hybrid Experimental–Computational Workflows in Materials Science

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We unveil a prototype hybrid‐workflow framework that fuses automatedcomputation with hands‐on experiments. Built atop pyiron, a lightweight, parameterized layer translates procedure descriptions into executable manual steps, syncing instrument settings, human interventions, and data capture in real‐time today.

Soft X‐Ray Imaging of Earth's Dayside Magnetosheath and Cusps Using Hybrid Simulations

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2023
Interactions between solar wind ions and neutral hydrogen atoms in Earth's exosphere can lead to the emission of soft X‐rays. Upcoming missions such as SMILE and LEXI aim to use soft X‐ray imaging to study the global structure of the magnetosphere ...

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

Quantifying urban seismic rescue difficulty: a policy-oriented assessment methodology based on building collapse patterns

open access: yesGeomatics, Natural Hazards & Risk
Post-earthquake rescue efficiency is crucial for urban seismic resilience. However, building collapse patterns, which critically determine rescue difficulty, remain inadequately addressed in urban disaster policies.

Direct Metal Deposition of Graphene–Ti28Nb35.4Zr Matrix Composites With Enhanced Mechanical, Corrosion, and Biocompatibility Properties for Bone Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Graphene nanoplatelet (0.1 wt.%) reinforcement significantly enhances the performance of β Ti‐28Nb‐35.4Zr alloy. Grain refinement, reduced water contact angle, and improved surface characteristics promote osteoblast adhesion and complete surface coverage after 7 days.

Tutorial on Means of Hybrid Simulation [PDF]

open access: yes2019 Winter Simulation Conference (WSC), 2019
The benefits of Hybrid Simulation (HS) are well recorded in academic literature. It offers deeper insights into the real-life system as it allows modelers to assess its inherent problems from different dimensions. As a result HS has recently generated more attention from within the Modeling and Simulation arena. HS comes in many shapes and forms.
