On the global hydration kinetics of tricalcium silicate cement [PDF]
We reconsider a number of measurements for the overall hydration kinetics of tricalcium silicate pastes having an initial water to cement weight ratio close to 0.5. We find that the time dependent ratio of hydrated and unhydrated silica mole numbers can be well characterized by two power-laws in time, $x/(1-x)\sim (t/t_x)^\psi$.

Hydration Water Dynamics and Instigation of Protein Structural Relaxation [PDF]
The molecular mechanism of the solvent motion that is required to instigate the protein structural relaxation above a critical hydration level or transition temperature has yet to be determined. In this work we use quasi-elastic neutron scattering (QENS) and molecular dynamics simulation to investigate hydration water dynamics near a greatly simplified

Hydration, Hydration, Hydration [PDF]
Throughout the world, large numbers of manual workers perform physically demanding labour in conditions of high environmental heat stress. Although the importance of adequate hydration in combating heat stress is universally recognized, studies in a range of worker groups have demonstrated a disturbingly poor hydration level in a high proportion of at ...

Ultrasonic sound speed analysis of hydrating calcium sulphate hemihydrate \ud [PDF]
This article focuses on the hydration, and\ud associated microstructure development, of b-hemihydrate\ud to dihydrate (gypsum). The sound velocity is used to\ud quantify the composition of the fresh slurry as well as the\ud hardening and hardened—porous ...

Dynamic Viscosity of Methane and Carbon Dioxide Hydrate Systems from Pure Water at High-Pressure Driving Forces [PDF]
The viscosity of methane and carbon dioxide hydrate systems were measured using a high-pressure rheometer up to 30 MPag. Where hydrate formation was not detected, the effect of temperature on the viscosity was one order of magnitude higher than the pressure effect on viscosity in most of the experimental pressure range (-0.048 mPa s/C at 1 MPag and 0 ...

The use of artificial neural networks in adiabatic curves modeling [PDF]
Adiabatic hydration curves are the most suitable data for temperature calculations in concrete hardening structures. However, it is very difficult to predict the adiabatic hydration curve of an arbitrary concrete mixture.

A shrinking core model for steam hydration of CaO-based sorbents cycled for CO2 capture [PDF]
Calcium looping is a developing CO2 capture technology. It is based on the reversible carbonation of CaO sorbent, which becomes less reactive upon cycling.

Degree of hydration-based creep modeling of concrete with blended binders : from concept to real applications [PDF]
The mechanical behavior of hardening concrete is to a large extent determined by the evolving microstructure as a result of the hydration process. For traditional binder systems, consisting of Portland cement or blast furnace slag cement, the degree of ...

Determination of Hydrated Phases of Nanosilica incorporated C3S and \b{eta}-C2S using Nanoindentation Technique [PDF]
Analysis of the mechanical properties of key phases of cementitious systems during hydration at the nanoscale is vital for a better understanding of the type and formation of key cement hydration phases. In this work, nanoindentation technique has been employed to calculate the volume fraction and elastic modulus of key hydrated phases, calcium ...
