Simulation of a Hydraulic Actuator

IBM Journal of Research and Development, 1964
A simple mathematical model of a hydraulic actuator is formulated, and the differential equations describing the model are derived. Experimental data and a computational solution of the model are determined. Results correspond favorably with oscilloscope velocity traces; hence the model could serve a useful purpose in mechanical design.

An hydraulically actuated isolated ventricle

Cardiovascular Research, 1974
An apparatus is described that hydraulically actuates an excised dog ventricle. Cam-operated pumps programme flow through the heart valves to approximate in-vivo blood flow. The intact valves and the tortuous ventricular surface provide the authentic mixing influences that are important for indicator dilution studies.

Bilateral Control Between Electric and Hydraulic Actuators Using Linearization of Hydraulic Actuators

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2017
In this study, bilateral control between electric and hydraulic actuators is investigated. Bilateral control realizes telemanipulation of remote robots with the sense of touch. We focus on the system of local (master) robots, manipulated by operators that are driven by electric actuators, and slave robots, which work in remote places that are driven by

Nonlinear optimal control of electro-hydraulic actuators

IFAC Journal of Systems and Control, 2021
Abstract A nonlinear optimal (H-infinity) control approach is proposed for electro-hydraulic actuators. Control of electrohydraulic actuators is a non-trivial problem because of the nonlinearities and underactuation in their dynamics. The article’s approach relies first on approximate linearization of the state–space model of the electrohydraulic ...

Power hydraulics - switched mode control of hydraulic actuation

2010 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems, 2010
This paper is concerned with the application of switching technology to hydraulic actuation. Over the last 50 years with advances in power electronics, faster and faster static switches have been developed and applied to the control of motors. Hydraulic technology evolved in the opposite direction: switching control was not considered, and more and ...

Electro-hydraulic actuator trajectory tracking

Proceedings of the 2004 American Control Conference, 2004
This paper combines block control, sliding mode control and integral control techniques to design a controller, which is able to force an electrohydraulic actuator driven by a servovalve to track a given chaotic reference trajectory. This approach enables to compensate the inherent nonlinearities of the actuator and to reject external constant ...

Cavitation in Valve-Controlled Hydraulic Actuators

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1963
Results of analytical and experimental studies of cavitation in valve-controlled hydraulic actuators under various dynamic conditions are presented. The analytical work consists of deriving approximate critical cavitation conditions for various operating modes.

A magnetorheological hydraulic actuator driven by a piezopump

SPIE Proceedings, 2003
Magnetorheological (MR) fluids can be used in a variety of smart semi-active systems. The MR damper shows an especially great potential to mitigate environmentally induced vibration and shocks. Another aspect of MR fluids is the construction of MR valve network in conjunction with a hydraulic pump resulting in a fully active actuator. These devices are

VS-ACC applied to a hydraulic actuator

Proceedings of the 2000 American Control Conference. ACC (IEEE Cat. No.00CH36334), 2000
In this paper a complete stability proof of a cascade controller applied to a hydraulic actuator is presented. To deal with the mechanical and hydraulic uncertainties an adaptive and a variable structure control law are combined. The theoretical approach may be generalized to the case of hydraulically driven manipulators. An experimental implementation

Modeling and identification of an Electro-Hydraulic Actuator

2016 12th IEEE International Conference on Control and Automation (ICCA), 2016
In this work, a physical non-linear model of an Electro-Hydraulic Actuator has been developed. Each system component (valves, pipes, cylinders) and their interactions have been modeled by means of conservation and constitutive laws. The actuator dynamics, with lumped-parameter element models, have been treated accurately, with special attention given ...
