Hydraulic Characteristics of Circular Flume

Journal of Irrigation and Drainage Engineering, 1991
Laboratory experiments are conducted to evaluate the hydraulic characteristics of several circular flumes. The circular flume is a simple and low‐cost water measuring device constructed from two pieces of pipes, one installed vertically inside the other. The ratio of the diameter of the inner column to the flume itself is approximately one‐third.

The Hydraulic Characteristics of Ovoid Sewers

Water and Environment Journal, 1996
AbstractEgg‐shaped or ovoid cross‐sections are common in old brick‐built sewerage systems. A recent development has been the availability of precast concrete ovoid pipes with flexible joints. The hydraulic analysis of flow in ovoid sections is described, following some historical background.

Furrow Hydraulic Characteristics and Infiltration

Transactions of the ASAE, 1985
ABSTRACT THE influence of temporally varying flow rate and surface depth on measured infiltration, furrow roughness, and geometry were compared using classical and regionalized statistical theory. Flowing conditions, rather than stagnant water, enhanced intake on cracked Yolo clay loam whereas rapidly increasing surface flow depth enhanced infiltration

Hydraulic Characteristics of Pumps and Turbines

2020
Almost all hydraulic systems in hydropower stations are constructed for turbine and pump operations. Except for Pelton turbines, at which only the injector nozzles are included in the hydraulic system, all other types of turbines and pumps are found within the hydraulic network and the pipeline system.

Hydraulic and sedimentary characteristics of rivers

Eos, Transactions American Geophysical Union, 1932
Rivers may be distinguished from one another by their hydraulic and sedimentary characteristics. These characterizing elements are so interwoven that it is extremely difficult if not impossible to describe them independently. Suffice it to say that if the bed of an open channel is movable simply by virtue of the energy of the water flowing through the ...

Real Hydraulic Efficiency Characteristics

2016
The hydraulic efficiency which is calculated according to Eq. (15.1) or (15.2) is a function of the peripheral speed coefficient k m. It is mathematically of symmetrical form about the nominal value k m,N at which the maximum efficiency is found. In reality, such a symmetrical function only applies for a limited variation of the independent peripheral ...
