Analysis of Aircraft Hydraulic System Failures

Advanced Materials Research, 2014
The hydraulic system of Aircraft is an important power organization and plays an important role in the process of airplane operation. The failures of the airplane have the character of concealment, complexity and uncertainty. So if the hydraulic system ran out of order it not only cause huge casualties and economic losses, but also has a long and low ...

Failure of Plungers in Hydraulic Pumps

2005
Abstract Several hydraulic pumps that failed in service on a particular type of aircraft were received for analysis. Hydraulic testing was not an option, so the pumps were disassembled and their plungers and cylinders were cleaned and examined.

Failure diagnosis of a type of hydraulic knee joint controller

Prosthetics & Orthotics International, 2001
The development of the hydraulic artificial knee joint controller has significantly improved the quality of life for many amputees. Even though the controller unit is very reliable, gradual deterioration inevitably takes place because the unit consists of many moving parts and is subjected to repetitive loads.

Fatigue failure of a hydraulic filter head

Engineering Failure Analysis, 2002
An in-service failure of a hydraulic filter installed on a combat aircraft has been investigated. Cracking had occurred at the filter head and no sign of plastic deformation was found. Chemical examination and micro-hardness measurement revealed that the filter head material was Al 6061-T6.

Failure analysis of a hydraulic Kaplan turbine shaft

Engineering Failure Analysis, 2014
Abstract This paper shows the results of the failure analysis of a 105 MW Kaplan turbine auxiliary shaft from a hydropower plant. As a part of the failure analysis, the turbine operation history was revised and the metallographic study was done.

Hydraulic Heave Failure in EC7: Suggestions for Verification

Geotechnical and Geological Engineering, 2014
Hydraulic failure by heave is one of the most dangerous limit states in geotechnical engineering practice. Hence, the margins of safety associated to this failure mechanism have traditionally been quite high. Nowadays, with the advent of the Eurocodes, the approaches to verify heave failure have been substantially modified to take into account “partial”

Fatigue Failure of Hydraulic Press Cylinders

2019
Abstract Hydraulic cylinders on three identical presses failed in a similar manner after approximately ten years' service life. The cylinder was a steel casting having a carbon content of the order of 0.3 to 0.4%. During machining of the internal surfaces, a sharp corner had been left at the junction of the head with the shell. From this

Hydraulic Hose Failures Caused by Corrosion of the Reinforcing Strands

Practical Failure Analysis, 2003
Hydraulic hose failures are quite often catastrophic events that impact the safety of the work environment. This presentation outlines an insidious cause of hose failure—the early warning signs of which may often go undetected until failure occurs—corrosion.

Analysis and identification of leakage failure in hydraulic system of hydraulic powered support

Diagnosing the faults of hydraulic support system, used in underground longwall mining, is very complex and time consuming as sometimes the relation between the cause and the result of the faults is vague. In addition, the definitions of cause and result are vague as well.
