Identification and Distribution of Hydraulic Flow Units in a Heterogeneous Carbonate Reservoir: North Robertson Unit, West Texas

Proceedings of Permian Basin Oil and Gas Recovery Conference, 1996
Abstract A model is developed of a heterogeneous carbonate reservoir based fundamentally on measurement of pore geometrical parameters. Pore level reservoir modeling results in improved accuracy in the prediction of rock types, permeability and identification of flow units.

Hydraulic Flow Units Resolve Reservoir Description Challenges in a Siberian Oil Field

SPE Asia Pacific Conference on Integrated Modelling for Asset Management, 2004
Abstract The paper describes results of a petrophysical study aimed to improve reservoir description of a complex oil reservoir located in Western-Siberia, Russia. The K-field was put on production in 1998. The reservoir rocks were deposited in a sand-rich deltaic environment, that implies reasonably good lateral sand bodies continuity ...

Field Application of a Modified Kozeny-Carmen Correlation to Characterize Hydraulic Flow Units

SPE/DGS Saudi Arabia Section Technical Symposium and Exhibition, 2011
Abstract Hydraulic Flow Unit (HU) has been used extensively as a technique in permeability modeling and rock typing. Amaefule et al. (1993) introduced for the first time the concept of Reservoir Quality Index (RQI) and Flow Zone Indicator (FZI) by using the Kozeny-Carmen (K-C) model to characterize HU and predict permeability in uncored ...

Shale Gas Hydraulic Flow Unit Identification Based on SEM-FIB Tomography

SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition, 2012
AbstractShale gas reservoir developments have steadily increased over the past few years throughout North America. A significant amount of the produced gas in shales is stored in complex submicron pore structures. The absence of an intensive hydraulic flow unit (HFU) model for these shale gas source rocks makes the prediction of economic gas ...

Application of Hydraulic Flow Units for History Matching of the Hydrodynamic Model of Tengiz Field

SPE Annual Caspian Technical Conference & Exhibition, 2016
Abstract Tengiz field is one of the largest oil fields in the world. Reservoir is an isolated carbonate structure of a big area and big thickness. High heterogeneity caused by complex heterogenic and structural history of reservoir rises many uncertainties and makes characterization of reservoir extremely complicated. This fact alongside

Simplified method of flow measurement in full-scale power tests of hydraulic units

Hydrotechnical Construction, 1975
1. Verification of the simplified method for power tests on hydraulic units revealed that this method will produce the power characteristics required for optimizing the regimes of hydroelectric plants. 2. The simplified method makes it possible to reduce significantly the time required for the power tests and processing of the data, as ...
