A Comprehensive Model of Fluid Loss in Hydraulic Fracturing
SPE Production & Facilities, 1994SummaryThis paper presents a comprehensive model of the fluid-loss process that occurs in hydraulic fracturing. The model treats the three flow regions in the leakoff process—the filter cake, the invaded zone and the reservoir zone—as a composite system with a rigorous account of the interface between the last two zones.

Exit Flows and Hydraulic Losses
2016In order to calculate and enhance the system efficiency of a Pelton turbine, it is essential to know which hydraulic and mechanical losses exist and how they can be estimated and above all successfully reduced. The efficiency of a Pelton turbine has so far been almost exclusively determined through measurements which are either restricted to ...

Hydraulic Loss Coefficients for Culverts
2012Traditional culvert applications were designed by determining the minimum culvert size that will pass the specified design flood. In recent years, culvert performance objectives and designs have been expanded to include other considerations such as improving fish and/or terrestrial animal passage and rehabilitating old, deteriorated culverts.

Analysis of Losses in Hydraulic Turbines
1996The paper gives a brief discussion on the influence of the different losses in a hydraulic turbine. Of special interest are the friction losses which decreases with Re. This leads to a scale up of the turbine efficiency from model to prototype as expressed in the IEC code according to the theory by prof. Spurk [1].

Hydraulic Loss of Finite Length Dividing Junctions
Journal of Fluids Engineering, 2017A general hydraulic loss coefficient correlation for perpendicular, cylindrical, finite length dividing pipe junctions is developed and implemented in a discrete dividing-flow manifold model. Dividing-flow manifolds are used in several technical appliances, e.g., in water and wastewater treatment, swimming pool technology, air engineering, and polymer ...

Long-term sealing loss of hydraulic bearings
Russian Engineering Research, 2011The factors responsible for the loss of sealing of hydraulic bearings in long-term operation are considered. The appearance of cavitation zones in the working fluid of hydraulic bearings and microscopic hydraulic bearings is explained.

Evaluating hydraulic losses in FRKDI bag filters
Chemical and Petroleum Engineering, 1987Methods for evaluating and reducing the hydraulic resistance and optimizing the power consumption of FRKDI filters were assessed. Hydraulic losses were calculated by determining local hydraulic resistances along the gas flow from the inlet to the outlet of the filter and summing these values.

Hydraulic Losses - How to Determine - How to Use
SPE Permian Basin Oil Recovery Conference, 1959Permian Basin Oil Recovery Conference, 7–8 May, Midland, Texas Abstract The factors which affect the treatment cost of an oil or gas well are numerous. These factors, hydraulic hp, treating fluid, well equipment, etc., may be determined and controlled prior to the treatment. An engineering design of a

Hydraulic losses of a gearbox: CFD analysis and experiments
Tribology International, 2013Abstract Efficiency is becoming a main concern in the design of power transmissions. It is therefore important, especially during the design phase, to have appropriate models to predict the power losses. For this reason CFD (computational fluid dynamics) simulations were performed in order to understand the influence of geometrical and operating ...
