The contribution of low‐head pumped hydro storage to grid stability in future power systems
The low‐head PHS system developed in ALPHEUS project will introduce a new storage system. This system will serve as new flexibility option contributing to the security of supply and grid stability with the advantage to provide vital ancillary services, specially frequency control, and thus, promoting the energy transition in the EU.

Hydraulic PTO model emulator for WEC tank tests
In order to accelerate the overall power take off (PTO) design effort and to cheaply evaluate alternative designs, the construction of the real hydraulic PTO can be replaced with the design of a hydraulic PTO model emulator. This has the added advantage that it can be applied at model testing scales, where real hydraulic hardware would not give ...

Abstract Modern agricultural tractors are complex systems, in which multiple physical (and technological) domains interact to reach a wide set of competing goals, including work operational performance and energy efficiency. This complexity translates to the dynamic, multi‐domain simulation models implemented to serve as digital twins, for rapid ...

A wave emulator for ocean wave energy, a Froude-scaled dry power take-off test setup [PDF]
A dry laboratory environment has been developed to test Power Take-O_ (PTO) systems for Wave Energy Converters. The costs accompanied by testing a wave energy converter and its PTO at sea are high due to the di_cult accessibility of (remote) test ...

Enhancing Thermo‐Osmotic Low‐Grade Heat Recovery by Applying a Negative Pressure to the Feed
Thermo‐osmotic energy conversion is supposed to convert low‐grade heat into power. The efficiency can be improved by applying negative pressure to the feed liquid. The theoretical calculation, computational fluid dynamics simulation, and experiments are carried out to verify the method.

Abstract Ocean wave energy is sustainable and renewable energy, wave energy conversion (WEC) effectively solves the disadvantage of traditional power system with fossil energy. WEC system is the power generation process that converts wave kinetic energy of undulation and swing into electric energy, and direct‐drive WEC system (D‐DWEC) converts wave ...

Numerical Model of Constrained Wave Energy Hyperbaric Converter under Full-Scale Sea Wave Conditions
A 2D numerical investigation of the power absorption of a constrained wave energy hyperbaric converter (WEHC) under full-scale sea wave conditions is presented. A fully non-linear numerical model DualSPHysics, based on the coupling of a smoothed particle

The power take-off (PTO) stability is one of the most important concerns for wave energy converters (WECs). The PTO unit converts the mechanical energy produced by the wave absorber (WA) unit into useful electrical energy. Due to the drastic input energy
