Pushing the hydraulic retention time envelope in Modified Ludzack Ettinger systems

Chemical Engineering Journal, 2010
Abstract This study demonstrated the feasibility of operating a biological nutrient-removal employing Modified Ludzack Ettinger (MLE), at a reduced hydraulic retention time (HRT) of 5.5 h. The MLE process not only achieved full nitrification and 75–80% total nitrogen removal, at temperatures as low as 12 °C but also reduced the net observed biomass ...

Effect of hydraulic retention time on membrane bioreactor system with prolonged sludge retention time

2008
A study on the effect of hydraulic retention time on membrane bioreactor system with prolonged sludge retention time was carried out. A submerged tubular ceramic membrane bioreactor (MBR) in laboratory scale, with a prolonged sludge retention time (SRT) of 200 days, was applied to reduce substantially the amount of disposed sludge.

Determination and discussion hydraulic retention time in membrane bioreactor system.

Journal of environmental sciences (China), 2003
Based on the microorganism kinetic model, the formula for computing hydraulic retention time in a membrane bioreactor system (MBR) is derived. With considering HRT as an evaluation index a combinational approach was used to discuss factors which have an effect on MBR.

Effect of hydraulic retention time on landfill leachate and gas characteristics

2009
Previous field studies carried out in order to characterize leachate in Vancouver, B.C. landfills show an effect of water input patterns on leachate characteristics. With high rainfall into the landfills, high volatile fatty acid (VFA) concentrations appear in leachate.

Investigation of the influence of hydraulic retention time on acidogenesis in aerobic treatment

2020
Anaerobic processes are one of the most important biological waste treatmentprocesses. In recent years, interests in anaerobic treatment has expanded considerablybecause the methane by product can serve as a useful fuel to help offset a growing demandfor energy.
