THE SIMULATION OF HYDRAULIC SYSTEMS
Abstract This paper describes progress towards a general purpose simulation language for hydraulic systems. The aim of the language is to allow engineers with no formal skill in computer programming or mathematical modelling to examine the dynamic or steady state conditions in systems at the design stage.

An Aloe‐pinspired droplet electricity generator (A‐DEG) overcomes the limited energy collection zone of conventional DEGs by guiding impact droplets through a channeling midrib and artificial cuticle. The channeling midrib induces uni‐directional droplet spreading, while the artificial cuticle on the midrib further reinforces this behavior through its ...

Closed fluid system without moving parts controls temperature [PDF]
Closed fluid system maintains a constant temperature in an insulated region without the use of any moving parts. Within the system, the energy for thermodynamic cycling of two-phase heat transfer fluid and a hydraulic fluid is entirely supplied by the ...

PERSPECTIVES IN SYSTEM THERMAL-HYDRAULICS [PDF]
The paper deals with three main topics: a) the definition of System Thermal-Hydraulics (SYS TH), b) a historical outline for SYS TH and, c) the description of elements for reflection when planning research projects or improvement activities, this last topic being the main reason for the paper.

Understanding Operando Water Management in Hydroxide‐Exchange‐Membrane Fuel Cells
Effective water management is vital for high‐performance hydroxide‐exchange‐membrane fuel cells. Using a custom water‐flux station, this study quantifies how membrane thickness, microporous layers, and operating conditions dictate internal water transport.

Hydrogel‐Based 3D‐Printable Stretchable Pressure Sensor
We present a carbon‐black‐functionalized double‐network granular hydrogel (DNGH) pressure sensor capable of detecting pressures from 200 Pa, equivalent to a light finger touch, up to 500 kPa. The sensor exhibits signal drifts below 3.5% after 800 cycles and response times around 80 ms. Leveraging this broad sensing range, we 3D print this material into

As wind turbines increase in size, combined with increased lifetime demands, new methods for load reduction needs to be examined. One method is to make the yaw system of the turbine soft/flexible and hereby dampen the loads to the system, which is the focus of the current paper.

Nonelastomeric Rod Seals for Advanced Hydraulic Systems [PDF]
Advanced high temperature hydraulic system rod sealing requirements can be met by using seals made of nonelastomeric (plastic) materials in applications where elastomers do not have adequate life.

3D Printed Multimaterial Microfluidic Transistors
We introduce a biocompatible, high resolution photopolymer resin that closely mimics the Young's Modulus (elasticity) and reversible stretchability (no hysteresis) of poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS), enabling the fabrication of microfluidic transistors (i.e., microvalves capable of proportional amplification) by multimaterial stereolithography (mSLA ...
