This article provides a first evaluation of land‐surface models at the km‐scale resolutions at which they are used in weather and Earth‐system models. At these resolutions, the lateral transfers of water that organize landscapes play an important role in predicting evaporation correctly. Riparian processes and human water management for irrigation need

A novel variable transmission with digital hydraulics
2015 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS), 2015This paper presents a novel variable transmission system that is based on the concept of digital hydraulics. In the proposed system, sets of rolling-diaphragm cylinders are mounted via different effective lever arms to an input and output joint. A variable subset of these cylinders is connected via three-way two-position on/off valves to a common ...

A mathematic modeling for hydraulic transmission line
2015 10th Asian Control Conference (ASCC), 2015The modal method for modeling in time — domain model of pressure transients in hydraulic transmission lines is shown to be equivalent to a variation method. Attenuation factors, similar to the windows used in spectral analysis, are used to attenuate Gibbs phenomenon oscillations. Explicit formulas are given for various end conditions.

Hydraulic transmissivity of geocomposite confined with soils
Measurement, 2021Abstract This research investigated the effect of fine content (F) on the transmissivity (T) of geocomposite confined with single and double surrounding soil layer under various vertical stresses (σv) and hydraulic gradients (i). A prototype hydraulic transmissivity test apparatus was developed for this investigation, based on the in-plane flow rate ...
